I got my production number today and as expected my car is listed as "on order." This is my first Mini and I think the interaction they provide as well as the huge amounts of information about your arriving car is both a blessing and a curse, I like it.
I am for now the soon to be owner of a MB/S MCCSa with everything (hold the mayo).
Now I just need to add the 1800askmini thing to my speed dial and watch the grey hairs multiply as I wait impatiently
Congrats and Happy (Future) Motoring!! The Owner's Lounge has a fair amount of information and they try to make the waiting as bearable as they can. It will be worth it!!
How? I need education. Help me Obie Wan, or if you prefer, Sensei. Whichever of you are sitting behind that keyboard
Do a Google Search for Panama Canal, they will have a link that has cameras. You should also be able to find the shipping schedule, as well. Order and times the ships are traversing the Canal. Anymore help you need just let me know.
I stayed up way to late one night, but was able to capture, or at least I think it is, a picture of the Luxury Liner that Molly rode home on!!

BTW, I was wondering, given the attitude of my most common passenger, do you think I'll need an alarm
We opted for the alarm, it gives you the "Cylon"(??) Visor Beam above the Tach, it beeps when locking and unlocking. We got it for peace of mind, more than anything. Our Insurance Co. also asked whether or not we had an alarm. So many options so LITTLE $$!!
Do you mind sharing what dealer you used on LI and if they worked any deals with you? I'm looking to order and would appreciate your experience.
Im actually so glad you asked. First let me preface this by sayiing I used to own a Subaru Dealership. Since selling it I have NEVER dealt with a salesperson to buy a new car for myself or when helping any of my friends. I would only deal with management or owners. I would always get an amazing deal becasue of my past (I guess its professional courtesy)
This is the first time since then I ever walked into a dealership blind and spoke to a salesperson. I even told the salesperson he probably didn't want to waste much time with me cause when it came time to buy I was going to go over his head and deal with his manager. At no time did he show any disinterest or not be 100% helpful with any of the questions I had. I went on two very long test drives (one time he even called me on my cell and asked me when I was coming back :-))
I annoyed the crap out of this guy for months :-) When push came to shove I never went to the manager. He deserved his commission and I wasn't going to torture him. I got a reasonable discount from sticker and he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I cannot recommend this guy highly enough. I'll probably invite him to my next barbeque! His name is Chris Mayor at Hassell Mini in Freeport. Chris is truly a stand up guy. His contact info is

Originally my post was a joke. Given the picture in my sig I thought an alarm was not necessary. Now I'm wondering if I should reconsider. What if they broke in and stole Asia (my Dobie). As much as I'm sure I'm going to love the car she's my most prized possesion :-) Actually they might have a hard time stealing her unless they were wearing one of those dog training attack suits. When was the last time you saw somebody walking around a car parking lot in one of those?

Is it a dealer install? Should I have done it with my order? I haven't seen any video of it on the net. They don't show it in any of the cooper how to videos.
It was put in with my build. I know some things can be installed at the port to save some dealer installation costs but I don't think the alarm was one of them.
I know my rally lights and bonnet stripes were installed at the port.

The alarm can be installed at the dealer and added into your price of the car or you can pay it seperately. Keep in mind they will charge labor to put it in. Shouldn't take them long to do it though. A couple hours at most..
