I'm being tortured...

My MA said earlier today that my car will be ready for pickup on Saturday, but having some other conversations with the credit union, I'm approved for the requested loan amount, but I won't be able to get the actual check drawn until Monday.

Anybody know the likelihood that the dealer will let me take delivery with some other piece of collateral?? I can't get a hold of my MA again today...

Great info to know. Did you have anything installed at the VDC? My MC won't have anything installed, so my time at the VDC should be short (fingers crossed).

The Grand Dahlia vanished from some of the main AIS websites, but I caught her on one website just offshore of Port Hueneme. Not sure if this is the most up to date information. My OL status and my WW tracking info still remain unchanged. Hopefully our MINIs leave the VDC Monday. I'd love to take delivery next week.

So close, yet so far...

Sweet JCW. Love those non-mesh JCW Scuttles. Wanna get my hands on those but haven't found a place to get them.

Are you getting OEM stripes? I thought they installed them at the VDC or at the dealer...

im getting custom stripes as the configurator doesn't have body stripes in red. My MA ordered the red striped from Minimotoringgraphics and they arrived today. So as soon as i can get it over to the dealer for the install it will be set.

Right on. How much are they charging for installation? I think I'm going to have OEM stripes installed at the dealer. Still deciding between bonnet and sport stripes...

too much man to much.... it was 250 for the roof and 250 for the body. That includes the cost from minimotoringgraphics + install.

Hmmmm. I've been listed as "En Route" on the OL since we left Southampton on the Grand Dahlia. Also, my WW tracking status is still "Loaded on Vessel." The boat keeps popping in and out of range, but I haven't seen it actually anchored at Port Hueneme. Hopefully, we reach the VDC by Friday.

Yea, that's pretty steep for my budget. Vinyl doesn't seem that difficult to install. I've seen a thread or two here on NAM, and it seems easy enough. I might consider doing it myself if the install price at the dealer is outrageous. I've heard some people here get stripes thrown in with the car...

So, got to watch the Otello sail through all 3 Canal Cams!! Anyone know what happens when they reach manzanillo?? Do they drop cars off? Do they just hang out there for a day? Any idea??

On another note...got a strange email today from the dealership...seems my MA has "left to pursue other interests". In the corporate world I live in that is a nice way of saying they were fired. I just spoke to him on Tuesday, there was no indication that he was going to be quitting. Hmmm...DRA-MA!

Does anyone else think that is odd?? Well, the MA that took over was the one I had originally met with, so all is well with the world. He seems to be much more proactive when it comes to giving out info too...sure it was stuff I already knew due to this board, but it was more than the prior MA ever gave me!

Hmmm....well, car will be here soon! Woohoo! Thank goodness for technology and hi-res canal cams!

Your post just made me lol. That's exactly the expression I've heard at work for years now and yes, it means someone got the boot. "So and so left the firm to pursue other opportunities." Yeah, right. That's why I just saw security escort them out of the building, right?

Grand Dahlia docked!

It's official – The Grand Dahlia has docked at Port Hueneme on 6/18 at 5:30 PM.

I've been following a thread on a BMW forum, and a member there actually went to the Port and took pictures of the Grand Dahlia docking at the port.

No word yet if any cars have been unloaded. If the boat arrived at 5:30 PM, I doubt they would start unloading all those MINIs and BMWs. Hopefully, we get unloaded tomorrow and head straight to the VDC.

Not sure about Manzanillo, but I doubt they spend more than a day there. On Thursday night/Friday morning start firing up those tracking websites, because the Otello should come into range around the Ensenada port in Mexico. In the meantime, take a breather from all the MINI tracking. It's fun, but sometimes I think it's easy for us MINI folk to get carried away...

Manzanillo is in Colon on the Atlantic side of the canal, so she has already made that stop. Next stop Port Hueneme!

Hey, imist, where did you find this? I don't see that on WXSailing or WW tracking sites yet.

Ahhhhh....THAT is why it was moored outside the panama canal overnight!! All the maps I have looked at showed Manzanillo on the Pacific side.

My MINI will be here soon!!!

Congrats!!!
Did you get your loan worked out with your credit union? Is the dealer letting you take delivery without the actual check in hand? Make sure you take pics and share!

My WW tracking says my MINI was unloaded today (6/19), so I guess I'm at the Port Hueneme VDC. Time to call the MA and see what delivery looks like. Wish me luck!

Went in to look at the stripes today. They were Brown/Red :(. So they have to return them with a chili red swab to make sure they get them right next time.

Oh btw speaking of loans. I was offered the 2.9 for 60 once i got to the dealer for those heading into the lions den (although it isnt much of a den when you have a deposit ordered on a new car)

Brown/red stripes on a black JCW?

I think that 2.9% over 60 is the special rate for JCW MINIs during the APR promo that's going on for June. For non-JCW R56s, its 3.9% over 60.

Well, lucky for me, I was able to work something out with the credit union and I got everything processed today and now have my check in hand. Before I figured out that I could compress things today, I talked to my MA this morning and he basically said, "Nope - have to have full cash on delivery for you to take the car." Which I think is complete BS.

My mother-in-law just bought a BMW 335i (from a different dealer) and when she was only *considering* they were telling her "Oh, just drive it home for the night and you can think about it." So, some dealers will let you drive a car home with next to zero collateral and others have your $1000 deposit, have made you wait for 9 weeks, will take a check for 25% of the full value, but can't let you drive the car home for the weekend without 100% payment?? Once again, I haven't been impressed with my dealer/MA "experience"...

At least I know when I drive off the lot I won't think twice about it again.

Wow you guys have a really active thread going here.. Week 22 there are only 3 of us. Subscribed so I can watch everyones new cars come in..
My car is at VDC but released to transportation and my MA says Monday.

Just saw pictures of the black JCW.. Very nice! I did not get the body kit either and I am pretty sure I am not. It looks a little long in the tooth for my preference.

And NONE of the financing specials apply to R57/convertibles. I was quoted 6.90%. Which is comical since I turned around and told him I got 3.90 from the credit union. Seriously? 6.90? Do they have statistics that indicate convertible buyers are impulse shoppers with no financial common sense?
