Well.. I don't have a ride to get to the dealership.. but my MA suggested to take a taxi and he will pay it!

 

Talked to my MA this morning, he said the car should be in Portland on July 1st or 2nd but that I won't get it until later next week. Apparently they have to do safety and mechanical inspections and another round of detailing...and they are closed Friday (3rd) to Sunday this week due to the holiday. (Can't I just take it over the weekend and bring it back on Monday for the routine stuff??)

Also, they service the cars in the order they are unloaded from the truck, regardless of priority 1 or dealer stock. I don't expect special treatment...BUT I DON'T HAVE A CAR (going on week 6 now) and I need to get the loan paperwork before we can finalize our house loan! It isn't just a WANT anymore, but a NEED.

Do the other dealerships set delivery close to the time they receive them or do they make you wait an extra week while they do their checks and detailing???

 

I'm signing the papers RIGHT NOW!!!! the MINI looks really good!

I took my MINI home the same day it arrived at the dealer, but I suppose this is different for every dealer.

 

While I'm waiting... They just told me that no MINI were damage on the Otello and they unload the cars using another gate (not back one)...

 

Sounds like it depends on the dealership and how many people they have on hand to process the vehicles that are coming in. My MA indicated that from the time the car was unloaded (assuming no dealer installs, add-ons) it took 3 hours for them to process the car and have it ready for customer pickup. That included final inspections and final wash and detailing.

My car was delivered to the dealership on a Friday afternoon and I picked her up the next Saturday morning at 10AM. My MA indicated they were getting 7 or 8 cars delivered each day.

Stupid question.. if today, 06/29/09 signed the papers for the car.. when is the first payment? 29 of next month, right?

 

Haha. I was thinking the same thing with my MINI! Did you finance through MINI? I wonder if we can set up automatic payments online...

 

Yeah.. with them. They have the best rate available.. 3.9 for 60 months..

 

oh.. I was reading the contract.. and it says

"When payments are due: Monthly, Beginning 08/13/2009"

Nobody else took delivery of their MINI???

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Soon...very soon!!! My MINI is now in Portland but I won't get her until next week. The dealership is closed Fri/Sat/Sun this week so they won't finish processing her until next week. Going in this afternoon to get the financing done and will set up the appt to pick her up. My MA is going to figure out where she is in "line" and let me know when they will have her ready.

SO close yet SO far away...

 

I'm really close! I just got an email from my MA and he said that Hobbes should be here on Friday. Of course, I'm going to be out of town for the weekend, so it'll be sometime next week. Almost there!

 

 

UPDATE: Per my MA, he was wrong she's not quite in Portland but the dealership received the paperwork so we can get the financing underway!! I'm actually going in tomorrow to get that nonsense out of the way. She will be arriving in Portland on Friday, and I can pick her up on my way to work Wednesday morning!!!

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...

Been motoring around for a couple weeks now and its a blast. I've gassed up twice already, first time I pumped Shell 91 ever. I'm averaging about 34-35 MPG, with a pretty even balance between highway and street, including a very long commute into LA and motoring around Melrose and Silverlake area. For some reason, I feel I will be gassing up more often than I did with my Civic, but maybe I'm just driving more often now.

Also finally bought all my cleaning supplies, a bunch of Prima products. The guys in the Detailers forum have me terrified of bird poop, and yesterday my MINI was used as target practice.
