Yep, it looks like the MC is "out of range". I was able to track it until a few hours ago. It looks like we'll be in the dark until she gets close to Panama.

 

Confirmed loaded 8:39. I finally saw a new Laser Blue S today in Monterey and I was so excited I wanted to flag it down, but thought better of it......just calm down.....janet

 

Hmmm.... I just heard something about pirates around Panama now ....................... just kiddin

BTW, the transformation has begun. I am now the very reluctant driver of my daughter's 1993 Saturn SL2 until my MCS arrives. I have to admit that I brought this on myself to make getting my new car that much sweeter and to make sure she has a better car to make the 3 hour drive to and from school (she got my wife's 2003 Saturn and my wife has my MCa). What was I thinking???

We just found out that we missed the last ship to Charleston for a while. Looks like up to 10 more days of waiting on the dock.

Don't sweat it, we'll both be on the Independence II on May 18. 10 more days to save up a few more bucks to add to your down payment

We moved into production within days of ordering, so the wait for the ship has really been the only "slow" time in the process. I keep reminding myself that we're waiting for the car we want instead of settling for a car we could get quickly. Generally, that works - but it's still like waiting for Christmas when you were a kid.

Looking forward to a smooth ride across the pond.

 

MINIphone said the Clubman was going to Southampton on 9 May. WW lines have picked it up telling me it has arrived 9 May. It is assigned to the Don Pasquale, sailing 12 May, arriving NY 22 May. I guess its just a matter of how long it takes to get from NY to Virginia

 

Nice! Good thing life is busy around here right now, hopefully the time will pass quickly.

As for pirates, have you seen this?

Hey I'm kinda new to this. I've more or less just been just using the owners lounge but I'm on the Morning Concert destined to be here on the 29th, anyone elses order going to Northwest MINI?

 

Congrats and welcome to NAM. The OL is OK up to the point where the car gets on the ship. Did you check out the Sticky thread on "How to track your MINI"? Lots of good info.

There's not much to do right now until the ship gets to Manzanillo (the port just before giong through the Panama Canal) around the 19th or 20th except keep ourselves busy with talk of pirates.

We'd love to see what your spec is. As far as Northwest MIni, I think most of us are in Calif but I'll let everyone speak for themselves.

 

Hey thanks yeah I've read up on how to track it and all of that good stuff up until the ship stopped showing where it was but that's ok.

As far as stats go hopefully this time it will show up in my signature not the most tricked out but has a select few good additions, its good for a first mini or in my case a first car

Pirates: most of my co-workers think its funny to joke they say "Oh no looks like pirates have stolen your car and are driving it across the sea here look they took a pic of it" (see attached)

Anyone know as far as owners clubs go I cant find a Midnight black one?? Is it not here yet??

Thanks! I hope I do the one I ordered was a 5-speed and they wouldnt let me test drive one only an automatic which is a bummer. I'm hoping the reverse wont be to weird.

 

It might take you a few weeks but you'll get used to reverse on the left side. Now that I think about it, all of my manual transmission cars have had reverse there - so I guess I'm used to it.

Love the MINIboat shot - reminds me of the Top Gear episode where they made amphibious vehicles.

 

I've had it over there but they were all "push down" into first and your in reverse as i understand it this is just way left

 

I test-drove a manual and it wasn't like the old VW "push down - over - up" to get into reverse - more of a resistance that you had to overcome to get it that far to the left.

I doubt you would do it accidentally unless you were quickly downshifting from 3rd or 4th into 1st gear.

 

Oh well I have been known to shift irractically but ive never "missed" a gear well thats good yeah just wasnt sure how I would feel about it

 

To get the MCS in reverse I had to actually move my leg out of the way. As far as I'm concerned that is ok I do not want it to be too easy to hit reverse.

 

Do you mean 6 speed? Both the manual and auto are 6-speeds. And btw, it takes quite a bit of effort to get the manual into reverse. I don't think you have to worry.

 

WOW yes i meant six speed ok now i feel stupid sorry at work replying to these so my whole head isnt here trying to talk to people on the phone at the same time.
