I've been wondering the same thing about the whole "break in period." I have a friend's wedding to go to in a few weeks so I'm guessing that I'm going to have to drive my mom's car once again. I'm currently driving her Civic. Ick!

Mine is being unloaded from the Don Pasquale today!!! Hallelujah!

Ok... really funny story today My stripes were custom made... they were not supposed to be here until next week even though my car just got to the dealer and is being picked up tomorrow (yeah!). I had planned on having to take my car in, part with it for a few hours and have the stripes put on. WELLLL, today I got home, checked the mail and there was a "sorry we missed you" card! They came!!! I tracked down the mail lady after searching two neighborhoods and found her in a school parking lot where I proceeded to cut her off, honking and waving my arms! I jumped out yelling... "You have my stripes!" I hauled down to the dealer, dropped them off and now I get to pick up "Stella" tomorrow stripes and all!

Can't wait to see the pictures. Don't forget to take your camaera to the showroom to pick up Stella. In all your excitement you might miss a blemish int hepaint and once you leave the lot it is hard to go back and say it was there. The other thing I have always done with my new cars is go home and wash them and detail them myself within the first week as that ias when you typically see everythi9ng inside and out.

So excited for you to be picking up your Stella! Too Cool Enjoy.

It wasn' too crazy stalkerish... We have had the same mail lady for years so she recognized me. It was still funny though... she is coming over tomorrow to see the car. I will take pictures, my friend is coming to take a video too. I can't wait to see all of your cars too!!!

Wow!!! Great story!!! I probably would have done the same thing. The only problem would have been the mail carrier would have either called the police or maced me because he barely knows me.

Can't wait to see Stella!!!

Seems to be a lot of worry about break-in. The owner's manual has pretty easy suggestions. Mostly, don't run it for too long at one speed, and don't use a lot of full throttle and don't lug it. There is nothing that would keep you from taking it anywhere, and the suggested RPM allows highway speeds. Just vary the speed as you drive. A long trip might be good, as there is no problem with condensation from poorly heated oil. The problem with running it really hard is that any places that might be uneven don't get a chance to wear away slowly. Things like pistons might get scuffed, which creates high spots and possible damage. Just drive it. It will be OK

I may still drive it, but it would be the perfect opportunity to spray on the fabric protectant without having to worry about poisoning myself. I'm getting the cloth seats so I think that it might be a good idea to prepare myself for the inevitable first drink spill.

What, you don't want badges of serviceon your MINI? You could be like my friend who bought a Camaro when they first came out and never drove it in the rain?? No, me neither.

Don't worry. I'm not that insane. I plan on having this car for as long as possible, but I might as well kill two birds with one stone by not driving it on I-35 for 3-4 hours each way and get the interior golden retriever/sister-proof. Plus the thought of driving on 35 in a brand new car is a little nerve-racking for me. The only good thing about that highway is that the state troopers are usually quick at getting to the scene of an accident.

No accidents, therefore no state troopers allowed. Only parking lot dings, which we all try to avoid..force field for protection?
On I35, at least no one pulls out in front of you.
My car is supposed to be ready 2 June. Hope it doesn't get held up in transit or something...

Well it seems like the MC is not going to show up on the tracker, it should be in range?

I haven't been able to see her but am hopeful she will show up sometime tomorrow or early Fri. I'm not holding my breath though. The WW site is still showing her coming in and leaving PH on Fri.

BTW, my appointment to Tour the port got changed to 2 pm. The gentleman who is giving the tour seemed confident that cars would be off-loaded at that time. We'll see...

Steelers, are you going to PH on Friday!? If you are (and they let you) take PHOTOS! Especially if you see a Black JCW fresh off the boat! :-)

My Week 19 just arrived in Charleston aboard the Michigan Highway 30 minutes after Midnight last night. Unloading began at 8:00 AM. Can't find a webcam though. Does anyone know how long it takes from unloading to being logged in at the VDC?

Dan

You are a good man, SteelersFan. (As a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan you have no idea how hard it was for me to type that. )

In case you didn't already know, next week is British Car Week. I hope to celebrate with a trip to Santa Barbara in the new Clubman! Failing that, I'll probably drive my Spitfire in to work a couple days, just to get used to driving something FUN!

Any pics yet for the east coast week 19ers? Let's see them cars!

Brad

Thanks for the kind words. And, yes I know exactly how hard it was to type that. I'll try not to hold being a Cowboys fan against you.

Melissa, congrats on picking up your car.

She looks great - and it doesn't look like you're having too bad of a time yourself! Enjoy it!

Hi Guys,

I have been lurking on this thread since our Pepper White MCS Cabrio with denim blue top and tuscan beige interior was waiting for the Morning Concert to load in Southampton. We are going nuts waiting at this point. We have been enjoying the coments. It has helped to know that there are others just as excited as we are. We have tracked the MC every step of the way but this last little bit is probably going to kill us.

SteelersFan if you see our cute little PW MCSC come off the boat tomorrow please add us to the list that would love to see a picture of her arrival. She should not be too hard to spot as there are not many cabrios.

Picking her up tomorrow

Our car found its way to the dealership in Ohio yesterday, and we're bringing her home tomorrow! We were incredibly lucky with timing at every step, but this was a long, long wait. Just a few hours more.
