Anybody else in Week 19 (2009)?
Yeah, come to think of it, where has she been???
It seems she is making you do all of the "work".
I would think that with 310 cars on the Don Pasquale headed for the east coast that I would not be the only aberrant personality watching it. Perhaps the others are more conservative. There a lot of you left coasters on this thread.
The ship is off Nantucket and supposed to be in New York at midnight. They must have made up a little time. They were originally going to be in New York today, then tomorrow, so midnight is a good compromise
My MA is going on vacation next week, but he thinks that Tuesday the 2nd will work for pickup. Since I will be on a trip also from next Thursday until Monday, I couldn't get it any earlier anyway.
Still, I am ready.

Not that I can tell until it gets near California. Bummer, huh. We used to be able to use AIS but it is no longer free and apparently it takes a while to get a response for a 2 week trial.
I plan to keep checking this site to pass the time:

Anyone else have any sites to use?

Thankyouthankyouthankyou! SteelersFan emailed the 100+ photos and I downloaded them to a CD. If you watch it on Slideshow and click real fast, it is just like watching a video! Considering I missed the "show" last night when the ship went through the canal, it was a real treat.

Cool, fun stuff!!!
BTW, I called the folks at Port Hueneme and guess what? I have an appointment to go there at 9am on Fri 5/29 to take a tour!!! I am so excited.
They are going to let me take pics and video. Hopefully I'll get to see our cars being off-loaded. If anyone would like to go let me know.

I most definitely will take pics and video - as much as one person possibly can.
I've got a decent ultra zoom stills camera and a new Canon HiDef video camera.
for downloading... need's 5 more minutes to upload and it's 920 right now.

So I am a little confused. The Don Pasquale stopped in Bayonne for a couple of hours, and then went to Port Newark Channel in Newark. Does anyone know if they unload MINIs at the Bayonne port or the Port Newark port?
Thanks
Also, Brad, thanks for the advice on checking the loading time at Southampton. So far, there is no further information on any of the WW sites. They do not mention that they stopped in Halifax, or Bayonne, or Port Newark, so far. I am keeping an eye on it. I suppose that the ship carrying your MINIs to the west coast does not stop, so there is no reason to update the ports-of-call??

You will laugh but after hearing it on your video I ended up using that as one of the songs in my daughter's end of year Girl Scout slide show. It works really well!

In case anyone is interested in how long it might take to get a MINI from the port to the dealer, my Clubman was unloaded Friday afternoon. I expect the holiday will hold it up, but I will let you know when it gets to the dealer so you west-coasters have a possible scenario.
Whoops. Saturday. CRS, too old

so I know some of you are just getting your first MINI but some of you already have them and im curious what you were told or what you did for the break in period. Does it really matter if your hard on it or not in the beginning.
Yeah!!! My MA just emailed and said that my MINI is at the dealer and getting the final touches!!! I am getting a chrome gas cap and that has to be sent out to be painted. They are hoping it will be back tomorrow and I can pick up Stella tomorrow evening!!! I am freaking out

This site (linked in the above thread) makes some interesting points:

I plan to drive her a little hard right away as well as follow the factory recommendation - keep it below 4500 rpm, vary speeds and rpm (no long trips on the freeway), and keep it below 70 mph for the first 1200 miles.

I am starting to freak out from anticipation of going to the port and also for getting mine.
I might be going in next Mon 6/1 to at least sign papers so that I can get the current interest rates before they expire. I spoke to my MA yesterday and she said as long as the car was at the dealer we could do the contract even if it isn't ready for me to take delivery.
There's a lot of varying info and opinions on this topic. You'll have to do some reading and decide what's best for you. Here's a short thread with a few good links.
