I'm new to this site

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this site and wanted to say Hi.
I have a 2004 pepper white MCS which I've owned for 2 years. It has 50,000 miles on it and I was just told that it will be due for some expensive work. I'm wondering if most people have mechanical work done by the dealer or by private mechanics?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome....

Cant speak for everyone but for me the nearest dealer is 1.5 + hours away, my car has 60K so it is out of warranty and I have found a shop very knowledgeable in MINI's 15 minutes away so for me unless it is a rare situation where I HAVE to go to the dealer for something I will be sticking local.

I have a dealer very close by (Columbus, OH), but I'd like to get a 2nd opinion before spending the $3000-$4000.00 they are recommeding in work to be done. Anybody in the area have recommendations for great, trustworthy mechanic?

What is the dealer telling you needs to be done?
