Hey guys, Names Matt.

I dont own a Mini yet but am interested in one. I recently threw a rod in by turbo hatch :( but the mini seems to be what I would like to own.

Could you point me in the direction of a few things.

I want a Cooper S. Probly black. Checker roof. bbs wheels +0 offset. (pics if ya got them)

Which is better The new turbo ones, or the supercharged ones?

Places to look at aftermarket parts ect.

Links to info on the forum are cool with me also, I havent started searching yet but soon will.

Thanks guys, here are some pics of my car now.

There's as many opinions here about what is better the 2nd Gen R56 (Turbo) or the 1st Gen R53 (SC) as there are members on this forum. Instead of bringing up a heated debate that it always is I suggest you do some research in the 1st Gen/2nd Gen forums to catch up on history. Or you could ask some more specific questions.

I would guess you'd be more interested in the 1st Gen simply because it looks like you enjoy modding. There's way more mods for 1st Gen than then 2nd simply because it's been available for 9 years vs. 2 years for the R56.

^^+1. If you're into mods, there are a lot available for the R56, but there aren't any tunes available yet, which is leaving everyone stuck at the moment. There are about 10 times as many available for the R53, though. Not to mention an R53 would probably be a bit cheaper. I just wouldn't get one any older than 2005.

Either way, then. I think you'll be happy. It really just comes down to whether or not you want a new car or a used car. If it were me, and I had the experience with a turbocharged engine, I would get an R56.

Your best bet is to go out and drive them both and see which you like best. You might want to come out to MOTD and get a first hand experience!

Heh- it'd be a REALLY small world if you grew up in Broward County. I went to college in Saint Augustine, but a ton of my friends went to FSU. How are you liking it in North Florida? I found it to be rather different from SoFl.
