A new MINI surprise for the wife
Hello all,
This is my post. I purchased a loaded 08 Mellow Yellow MCS for my wife last week for a wedding anniversary present. I am waiting for her return from a visit with her family to spring the surprise. The car is still at the dealers until Thursday when, under the guise of test driving a car for her, the surprise will be revealed. The dealer will have the car under a black satin cover with a huge bow on top. We are going to go in and fill out test drive paperwork and "look" around for a car to drive. If my wife has not mention the covered car I will bring it up to the dealer, he is going to say it is a gift for someones wife, so we can see what reaction she has (hopefully not hate toward me ) Then he is going to pull out the key and hand it to her.

A new MINI surprise for the wife
I will keep everyone informed on how it plays out.
To answer some questions posted. No she is not on the boards, wouldn't have registered here but, would die for a Mini (she's a Brit!!!) . Two we are currently stationed in Germany, but we are getting assigned to Offutt AFB Nebraska in July. At first we were going to look for a car when we get there. While she has been away she keeps sending me links to older Minis (03-06')for sale in the area. This sale was a bit of a blessing I was not in the market for a car until we get to Offutt, but the price was too good to pass up and BMW offers military members buying overseas free shipping (about a $2400 savings since the GOV is shipping my BMW X3) The Mini is loaded with everything except Prim sound so the options should not be an issue. Only thing i was reluctant with was the color, but every time I go down to the dealer to play with it in the showroom I like it more and more...

Hey ! It's about time ! We are all waiting for the details. If I did not see a posting today , I was going to respond as to where's the punchline ? But it looks like others beat me to it.
Okay...so it's a done deal ???
BUT...so what happened ? You both went to the dealership and ....your spouse saw there was a MINI with a bow on it...and please provide us some details...we have been hanging on this whole week !!
Congratulations on your new MINI ! Assuming it is a done deal.

My husband bought Viola for me as a gift, but he didn't plan it out quite like this. We talked about it, I knew what I wanted, he knew what I wanted. We went to the dealership and test drove together and he fully expected me to order a car, not to fall in love with the car I test drove, but he was a great sport.
If he had done this, I would have kissed him. A guy that's willing to put his heart out there like this and choose something for his wife as important as a car, with the complete confidence that she will love it gets extra bonus points.
I'm sure she will love it! You're an awesome hubby!

The suprise was a success
Hello Everyone,
Sorry for the delay, we have been out driving the Mini every day. So as for the surprise, what a magical day, it was the greatest. We got to the dealership and had a look around and I introduced Scott the salesman. He funnily enough had no Mini's to test drive. My wife was a bit disappointed and I mention the covered car with a bow on it to Scott. He told us it was an anniversary present for a someone's wife. My wife commented on how nice that was, not thinking it was hers. I asked again if there were any Minis to drive and he said no, so i said that was Lucky because the car under the cover was hers, that is when Scott handed her the keys.
She was in complete and utter shock, she kept saying are you joking. She had trouble taking the cover off the car and we had to help her. Then she gasp for air when she saw the awesome color of the car! She kept saying is the a joke again, and I answered April fools was yesterday honey! I left her a an anniversary card on the steering wheel and she finally started to believe it. She hopped in and I started the radio/memory stick which had the Beatles "Baby you can drive my car" loaded (The Beatles are one of her favorite groups)
She still could not believe it and asked if this was just a rental or something, i had to show here the names on the registration paperwork twice. Scott gave her the walk around of the car and she signed the release paperwork. Scott then drove it out of the showroom and she took some photos, and it was happy motoring since.
She is so happy with the color, there are 100's of Mini's here in the Ramstein Air base community but from what I have seen only 2 other Mellow Yellow Mini's. She thinks it is the best color of all, and is quite impressed at the amount of heads it turns.
We will only have about two months to drive her (no name yet but my wife is thinking Melissa) before she goes on a boat trip bound the states.
Thats all for now
Kevin

Great to hear that the MINI has arrived and accepted. Great touch with the soundtrack in the car upon pickup.
Looking forward to when the two of you and your MINI arrive in Nebraska. Get as much twisty driving as you can in now because you will find few turns out here. However, due to the low population density of MINI's to pickup trucks you should turn even more heads.
