Anyone able to wheel and deal?
I did a wee bit on mine, but the dealership kind of owed me one. I bought first MINI slightly used (about 5k mi.). The Carfax came up clean when I bought it, but it's now showing that the previous owner wrecked it.
Anyway, that's the only reason they even let me try to haggle. And at that point it wasn't haggling so much as they just offered me a great deal on trade in.

I drove by our local dealer (Baron MINI - KC) and their remote storage lot today and counted well over 50 new MINIs of evey variation (including a new JCW - $33K!!!!) both Justa's and S'ssss, as well as both versions of Clubbies so it seems it should be a good time to wheel and deal..........
I'm in Florida...one dealer said "no deals..period"...went to anther one....
got close to one thousand off.....& floor mats. Was thrilled with that considering I read no deals on MINI's period.
When dealing, I would say that you catch more flies with honey, rather
than the usual hard ball attitude. Just my opinion based on my experience
with MINI....which by the way...was a great one.

I just got a 2009 JCW for $500 over invoice. But....it was the 4th Mini I was buying from the dealership, and they gave me only wholesale price for my trade in.
You have a better chance of getting a better discount if you buy one that is already on the lot, because the dealership is already paying interest on those vehicles (one built by you, or one in transit, is not costing the dealership anything yet). If somehow you can find Minis that have been on the lot for 2-3 months, those are the ones that the dealer is wanting to sell real bad. And of course, end of the month being end of the year should help too.
Good luck!!!

By the way, they are stopping production of "normal" Minis for 3 weeks, becasue they will use those weeks to build the Mini-E (electric version).

That makes me wish I lived anywhere near Nebraska right now.
Mini's are a great value @msrp or $ xxxx off. I'd try to do business locally. Because they in the end will be the one's helping you. Check out the service department talk to them and see how comfortable they made you feel. I want my MA and my dealership to stay viable so I can continue to do business with them. After that, maybe if I didn't feel good about it I might shop around FWIW
As I understand these high numbers of new cars are due to the MINI factory shutting down for the month of December. I was told that typically the dealerships get a nice big load of new ones in around this time of the year to tide them over through January. With that I mind I would try InniMini's approach. See how much you can sweet talk them. Just try not to over do it. If they offer you up to $1k off the sticker, that's probably about as good as you're going to get. Maybe try for the floor mats, too

.I had a great rapport with my MA and the sales manager....I went back a couple of times before actually ordering one. I think that establishing a friendly business relationship helped with my final price. As for the price of MINI's....they don't have to discount at all. While everyone else is suffering, MINI sales are up....they are in demand...which puts them in the drivers seat. I did a lot of research on pricing before I bought mine...
not only was I shocked to have gotten anything off the price....but I read that some dealerships out west were actually charging OVER sticker price...
and getting it.
Just to clarify...I didn't sweet talk anyone....I just didn't get aggressive at all. I didn't try to hardball...and luckily, I didn't have to.

I went to a dealership close to where I live and they said everyone pays MSRP, so they quoted me on a lease deal for a base Mini Cooper. Then I called up a dealership further away and I told them what the first place quoted me, and they offered a MCS with a sticker of 5k more for the same monthly payment as the base cooper. Needless to say, I made the trip to the other dealer and bought the MCS.
Frankly, these threads about pricing are getting old to me....it all boils down to WHERE you are buying. Overall MINI sales for the US market were way up this year so there are no fire sales going on. It is quite likely that in some regions around the country, inventory is starting to stack up and the local dealers may be willing to discount a bit to move them. In my city, the dealers are still doing fine. There's more on the lot than there was this summer but it's hardly a slump. I went into my store last Saturday to get some paperwork and my salesman was delivering four cars that day in addition to whatever deals he had working. When I picked up my car on Tuesday evening, three other people were picking their's up too. Not that it's anyone's business really
but I paid MSRP for my new JCW, free carbon fiber hoodscoop and JCW floormats ($469 retail value), and $2200 for VPC installed body kit versus the $2620 printed on the port installed supplementary window sticker. I sold my other cars and did financing through a friend's independent leasing company so that was the bottom line for the dealer. It was a win/win for everyone or the deal wouldn't have happened. I would certainly balk at ever paying over MSRP for anything, or paying some of the ridiculous "prep and doc" fees I've heard of around here....but if I didn't think paying MSRP for my car was worth it, I wouldn't have, simple as that.
