Not an owner but a tech
just saying hi. im a mini tech in NY. ill be lurking and helping where i can. can say much about where i work cause BMW NA keeps an eye out on sites. but feel free to ask questions
Welcome!
It's always nice to have people in the know.
Actually, I'm gonna take this opportunity to ask a question-
I picked up my new '09 last week- two days later and maybe 200 miles in between, it started to shake when stopped and idling at an intersection, but it would go away when I accelerated and traveled at highway speed. A little later, the check engine light came on and a message on the nav screen said "Increased Emissions!"
The next day it all went away as if it never happened. My dealer said that a new O2 sensor and the sudden cold can do this sometimes. Is this plausible or did they just throw BS at me?
Sorry to start throwing questions at you so soon! I appreciate any insight you have!
welcome again!

well the o2 will set the light on and if its not present will be of at the next start. it probably set the fault and saved it in the dme and the dealer just replaced it off what the gt1 said. the shaking probably due to the fault. do u know if they updated the dme when u had it there? ive never replaced an o2 cause of cold weather sounds kinda like bs.
What I saw was that it threw the fault light. I pulled over, turned the engine off, and turned it on again, and it threw the same light. I drove about a quarter mile into a parking lot, turned it off, popped the hood to take a look inside, and nothing was out of order. Hopped back in the car, started the car, and the problem was gone, no shaking, no light. =\
I but I'll definitely have them look over the car this weekend.
Thanks!
sorry about that. like i said ill lurk threw the forums and help where i can
