MINI badge in Engine Compartment?

Hi Folks,

Now that I've got my 2009 MCS, was wondering if there *should be* a MINI badge displayed in the engine compartment? Just curious. I've seen internet photos of 2007 engine compartments that clearly display a MINI badge in the engine compartment.

I'm thinking now that this is purely for "marketing purposes".

Just curious. Please do control yourself and not reply, "Hey, if it matters that much to you, buy a sticker and stick it where ever you want..."

Again, just curious.
Cheers,
-CoolTones

There was another thread not too long ago about this. I don't recall if it was a 2009 or not. It didn't have a logo on the engine. That person bought a hood badge and glued it (hi-temp glue I suppose) to the valve cover.

Thanks for the reply, Minidrivr.
Just thought it odd that there would be no type of branding in the engine compartment.
Guess the expense was invested in creating the "secret storage" space above the glove box.

Ha!

I figured I'd ditch my other set of MINI keys in there just in case my sister gets any ideas about driving the MINI!
Just kidding folks. Don't anyone try and look for my MINI 'cause there *AREN'T* any spare keys in the secret compartment....er, um, What secret compartment? Did I *say* there was a secret compartment?!?!?

So *IS* there no one else out there with an '09 MINI Cooper S that DOES NOT have the MINI badge in the engine compartment?

My 09 MCS is at the Mini Center getting the JCW TK installed. Plan on taking pics and will let you know if I have a MINI badge in the engine bay.

We have a 09 clubman (non s) and no badge. I think this is a good reason to get another MINI and see if it will have a badge. Don't know if my wife will agree.

09 Mini Cooper S (Week 40) and no badge.

Is there a method to this madness?

Thanks Folks for the replies thus far.
I just visited my MINI dealership and asked them to show me a couple of MINI Cooper S 2009 vehicles on the lot. On the 3 brand new 2009 MCS's all of them DID NOT have the MINI badge. Where the badge was supposed to be was instead the "MINI recommends Castrol" sticker.

Oh well. Looks like that's the case for the '09 MCS.

Thanks again for the replies.
Cheers,

Thanks for the confirmation, bhelton. My car has a production date of "September 8" so I'm not sure what week production that is. Sounds like perhaps Week 39 (sequence) was the last week before they started to *cut costs*.

"You get the secret compartment, but NO engine badge"?
"You get NO secret compartment, but you get the engine badge"?

Interesting.
Hope that everyone sees this thread as trivia entertainment.

My guess is...

Fell off in Transit..

You may want to do a little search of the catch pan areas under the engine to see if it's still around...

Hee, Hee! Yeah, maybe, but the fact that there was the "MINI recommends Castrol" sticker where the MINI badge was supposed to be is odd.

My Guess?: The Service Advisor knew I was coming this morning, went to the 3 2009 MCS's and popped off their engine badges. Slapped the "Castrol" sticker on each of the 3 MCS's and then showed me that the '09 MCS's no longer have the MINI badge... "See Tony, No MINI badge!"

I bet if I go on eBay I'll find 4 MINI engine compartment badges for sale -- The 3 popped off the '09 MCS's and the 1 that fell off mine and found by the MINI transport truck driver!
