Hello!
Greetings all,
First post here, although I have been lurking since I ordered my Cooper back in July. The site was a great place to learn about the car, fuel economy, potential issues, and whatnot.
Right off the bat I'll say I never have been much of a "car guy", you know, the one carrying around a picture of his car in his wallet or always having a clean shammy close at hand in case of smudges. Cars for me have always been pretty utilitarian, get from point A to point B. Sure, I like a nice ride, but I would not call myself an enthusiast by any stretch. When I ordered my Mini, I was looking for something fuel-efficient with a little character, i.e. I didn't want a standard Japanese econo-box hatchback.
With that in mind, I read some of the posts here with some amusement, it seemed people were really SERIOUS about these little cars, all the while thinking that was not really my style. A car is a car right?
Well, I can tell you, I've driven it for a week, and I simply love this little car. No other way to put it, I can easily see how it turns you into an "enthusiast".
My wife laughs at me as I rave about the car. I even named him (meet Nigel)!
So, expect me to be around a lot, hopefully I'll see some of you on the roads of Northern VA and beyond. I promise I'll wave!

Welcome aboard, irwin. From now on, you will no longer be just a "point a to point b" guy. The MINI has awoken something inside you. Enjoy it. Let your wife laugh at you, and laugh right with her.
