Aloha

Hi All,

Just got my first Mini after wanting one for many years and then BMW took them over and I fell in love all over again and couldn't live without one. Of course my wife says I am a little kid because after only two weeks I am checking after market exhaust, tires and other neat stuff, must have items you undersatnd. Anyway I live in sunny warm Hawaii on the island of Ohau and it is great all year round. There is one club here I'll be checking out and get some more good ideas.

Just wanted to say Hi.

Mahalo,
TG2

Congratulations on the new addition, and welcome.

Remember, don't wipe that grin off your face. If you drive enough in the Hawaii sunshine, you may need sunscreen for your teeth.

Congrats. What finally sold me on getting a Mini was when I saw a convertible on the big island. One of the residents of Volcano, a glassblowing artist, had one that she decorated with flower patterns- the old quilting patterns. It looked great, and the car was a lot of fun.

Thank You everyone!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Since photography is my passion next to the car I'll be posting some pictures soon, just need to figure out how to put them in.

Hello from So Cal!! Glad to have you on board. Oahu is fantastic! Lived there many years ago - Navy Brat. We were there on vacation back in June and met up with the MINI Club one morning just to say Hey. Seems to be a great group!!! Happy Motoring!!!

So Cal

Mike & Donna,

Thank you for the welcome it's always good to heard from someone raised around the military and especially from California. I was raised around Santa Cruz and San Jose then once I joined the military I was all over. We just had a rally this past weekend and there were over 50 Mini's and that was great I think for Hawaii seeing so many in one place. Take Care.

Great to hear your thinking about mods. What are the stats on your MINI?

My daughter is at UH in Grad. school. How do you like driving the MINI in the rains?

Enjoy, I understand you have some great around the Island roads.

OLD81 & JBKoopa,

Thanks for the reply, Yes I look for any excuse to drive now, they do have some good roads even while this is an island. No I do not mind driving in the rain, I just love to drive.

Right now my Mini is bone stock, just thinking and learning what is best to do for mods. we have a friend from Taiwan going to the UH here and it seems like a good school, don't hear about many problems, kids seems nice and serious about their studies.

Will post some pictures soon as I have a chance, ALOHA,

TG2,

The Hawaii MINI Motoring club and MINI of Hawaii sponsored a sunday Road Rally and lunch this past weekend.

When we reached the HPU stop out past the Pali Hwy, I counted two classic minis and 45 newer MINIs including quite a few clubmans and cabrios. Maybe the top total was closer to 56+.

Some pics.

Brakes were working only on one side in the fronts.

MINIKahuna leading the way. Followed by an "army" of MINIs.

Pitstop rest at HPU. My count was 47.

On the road just before stopping for lunch.

Keep your eye out for the next event or stop by the dealership to ask about anything coming up.

Likely we will have a Food drive to donate to the Hawaii Food Bank in November and Toy drive to benefit homeless children on the Waianae coast.

The dealership has in the past held an event at the Aloha Tower Marketplace- a mini MINI car show with the two donation drives.
Fill up a cabrio with Food, Toys or both.

Aloha,

Thank you for the reply and information, as a matter of fact that is my car behind ther Yellow Classic in your one picture. It was our first Rally and my wife was really exicted with the Army of Mini's all in one place. On the Hawaii forum I am TonyG and I plan to be more active. Right now I am in the middle of a job change and things are a little crazy. But I'll be watching for any event the club puts on.

Take care and see you around.
