Progress!

A few hours ago the Owners' Lounge still said that my car was on order, but now it says that my car is schedule for production! (I know what your thinking, and yes. I check the site more often than is probably healthy. )

Anyway... The point is that when I saw the status had changed I felt one hell of rush, and then I realized that some of the most exciting moments I'm likely to have over the next month are going to be logging into the Owners' Lounge and seeing the status of my car change. I know that it's just a car, but I've got to say that ordering a Mini (especially when the new model year is just around the corner) is one hell of an emotional rollercoaster. Now I think that I fully understand why someone started making forum threads with the words "Support Group" in the titles.

Hey everyone, I ordered 7/5/08.
I'm still not sure where my MINI is.
The Mini USA website says i'm in production.
The automated Ask Mini voice says i'm in the paint shop, scheduled for completion on the 18th.
The Ask Mini representative says my car is finished, but can't tell me where it is.
Wow,I must be in weeks 29 thru 32. Perhaps there is a MINI Limbo out there somewhere.

Thanks, NSX JR.

I'll call Ask Mini again Monday. Surely, by then they will be able to tell the whereabouts of my car.

Checking 300 times a day might be unhealthy

New update. Scheduled completion date of July 24. That should provide more than enough time to catch the Don Juan departing for the port of New York on July 31.

How can you tell what your completion date is? Mine just says scheduled for production. Will this info show up on OL or is it only available via ASK MINI?

There is a quite a lag with OL. Wait until Monday and call ASKMINI....talk to a live person and they will give you the current status of your baby.

The is a great sticky that gives an in-depth explaination of the tracking process.

After looking at the shipping schedule, I'm thinking that I and any other southern desitination owners are going to be on the Courage which departs July 27th. West Coasters should sbe on the Aida for a July 29th departure. And any north east coasters should be on the Don Juan for a July 31st departure. And I'm not even taking K-Line into consideration because it takes a logistics engineer to understand their shipping schedule

Week 30 - still no production date?

Are there any other Clubman orders slated for week 30 with still no production date? Ask MINI says that week 30 starts 7/20 (today) so I'd hope that I'd have a production date by now.

I'm wondering if there's an option that I've ordered that's delaying things? Also, I read on another thread somewhere that they've already allocated all of the 2008 Clubmans they can build before the 2009 starts. Sure wish I knew where I stood.

My scheduled completion date is 7/23! I thought it was going to take around 8 days in production but even if it started immediately when my status changed to "scheduled for production" then it would still only be 5 days max. I hope they leave time for the paint to dry

That's great news that's it is going to be completed so fast. I ordered mine 7/5 and was initially scheduled for week 28. I have a Clubman, however. I'm thinking that something's delaying my build.

I've read on some other threads that they've stopped building the 08 Clubman already. I've called Ask Mini but they can't provide any info on this. My MA has no information either (until middle of last week, they were saying the car was built...)

Here's hoping tomorrow will provide some answers.

Finally - progress!

I just spoke with Ask Mini and they now say my Clubman is in production. I got my VIN number even! I was so excited that I forgot to ask when production would be complete.

Does anyone know what port the cars come into if it's being delivered to NY area? I'd like to start trying to determine when and what boat I'll be on.

Oh yea, my Clubman officially now named Edgar

You should be on the Don Juan for a July 31st departure. He looks like the next ship departing for the NY port after the end of our production week.

Cool and Thanks! Do you know if anyone has any links to the shipping company for the Don Juan. I know that one of the companies has some really good online tracking while the other does not.

Thanks again

As of yesterday, I was told that my MINI officially has reached the port of exit. Now just waiting to board a ship. My status on the OL has changed to: Awaiting Transport.

Anyone else with me?

I am going to Charleston. I live about 10 miles from the SC VDC which is located at the BMW Manufacturing facility in Greer, SC.

Just got off the phone with ASK MINI and they say I am sitting at the port of exit! WOW that was fast. No other information source shows this yet and I don't know what boat I might catch at this point. Funny thing is I got the "BMW" Customer relations this time and had about a 15 minute conversation with a very excited girl about my new mini. She was drooling over the Black/Black color combo with punch leather, she even tried to help me name it for a while. We even talked about getting it tinted what aftermarket wheels I might be getting (anthricite ultraleggera or similar) and she suggested I choose the name Bruce since it will be spec'd out like the batmobile. Anyways, my car is built
