A Little Production Research

Since I don't have anything else to do than spend numerous hours on NAM, I thought I would do a little research, with your help, on lag trends between your order date and date your baby goes into production.
As it stands right now, I ordered 6/11 and as far as I can tell, based on what ASK MINI says and what my MA states, I am scheduled for W29 (7/14). That is a little over a month from order date to production date, the the average 6 -8 weeks delivery turns into a 10-12 week delivery. As I scan the pages, I have seen many new posters who ordered after me and are in production or scheduled next week. I guess I want to see if there is a trend based on geographics, type of vehicle or throw of the dice.

If you wish to contribute just let me know date ordered, week/date of production, vehicle type, location (state will do just fine) Thanks for contributing to this non-scientific research

This is more than you asked for, but...

2/7/08 - Order placed
2/10 - Received VIN
2/12 - Production started
2/15 - Production complete
2/22 - Assigned to vessel
3/12/08 - Picked up

My MA says the time issue is mostly based on the type vehicle. That is, Justacoopers are about 4 weeks faster than an S right now. He also says Clubbies and Coopers have different wait peroiods. That is all coupled with the dealer alocations. An example, I ordered on 6-5. The car finished production on 7-1. It was a slot held by a dealer pre order. The car is a Clubman S. Another customer from the same dealership ordered a Clubman non S a week afet I did. I believe that car was completed 6-26. My dealer is quoting 8 weeks for a Cooper amd 12 weeks for an S now.

Ordered 21-6
Production Started 23-6

I ordered my MC on 6/19 and may (or may not) be scheduled for week 28 production (7/7). My first call to ASKMINI said week 28. This week's call said, "not scheduled for production." So if I have to wait for week 29, we're talking 1 month from order to production, then at least another month (or more) to get my baby out here to the west coast.

Keep in mind, too, that where you are determines how long it takes to get your MINI. Us left coasters have a longer wait (farther to go!)

I think it depends on the dealer and model. I ordered from MINI of Peabody (Mass) who are supposed to be the largest volume dealer in the US. Right off the bat they told me their next available slot for MC/MCS was week 31, and for Clubmans, week 40.

Ordered 6/24/08
Scheduled for production 7/28/08
Tentative delivery date last week of August

I'm definitely jealous of those of you who seem to go into production a day or two after ordering...

If that's the case, a Cooper buyer should have theirs within 5 days of ordering if my situation is any indicator.

I ordered my Cooper S on 6/20, entered production 6/27, completed 7/3.

My father ordered a Clubman (non-S) on 4/26, it didn't go into production until early June.

My MA told me that the Clubman production allotments per dealer are much lower than the coupe allotments. If a dealer only has a handful production spots a month for a Clubman the wait can really build up due to the demand.

My bet is you didn't order from the same dealer.... unless you traveled to Dallas. The time frames are different for each dealer. You can get one real fast if the dealer has already ordered a car with no buyer that you can walk into.

That's about it. The dealers get so many production slots allocated to them, and if they've got one that's just going to the lot, they can slip you into one and mark it priority one since it's got a buyer attached.

I ordered my Cooper S on 6/14. It went into production somtime around 6/18. It was completed on 6/26 and on the boat on 6/28. It should arrive in the US on 7/7 and my dealer say I could probably pick it up by 7/14.

Placed our order for a MCCS on 5/11 from Northwest Mini in Washington State.
About a month ago we moved up from number 14 to number 4 on the waiting list.
Hope to hear soon from our MA. It would be nice to just get a production date.

I don't think this thread is easing my inability to wait

I ordered 6/16 and called today they told me maybe week 28 or 29?
I was also told that they are having issues with some of the strikes from the Semi-drivers. I knew they had strikes a short while ago but not sure about now.

I ordered from a Chicago land dealer.

We seem to have been really lucky with Shawn (Cooper-S), we ordered on a Friday (April 4th) and it was already in production by the time I checked on Sunday. Maybe being 4th time customers has its advantages, the MA could slip it in for one due for production the next week.

Last year Tristan (Cooper) took 2 weeks, previously it was 6 weeks and 2.5 months.

warev - thanks for your encouragement. Waiting is hard and I am afraid to say this, but this could turn into a Thanksgiving delivery.

Do you have a production number? Time is running out for the 08 Convertible.
