How to Track your MINI: Revised, Expanded and Updated
I'm homeward bound on the AIDA after a brief stop at Southampton!
How did you find out? I just found out that mine finished production today and I have no idea where to look form here. My MA said that she has never been asked about shipping and what ship they Mini's are on?
Thanks and congratulations!
Thanks and congratulations!

ready2roll,
Congrats on your MINI! We too have MINI on order and have ID'd the vessel it is travelling on. Our MA was not very helpful nor was the Owner's Lounge. So we had to take matters into our own hands... In fact we got our direction mostly in part by the excellent share of info by bloggers & posters here- they were excellent in posting their "how to's" and 1, 2, 3's on the fine art of searching for the vehicle. We used our VIN number on the WW website to search what ship our boat was going to be on--this was the only lead our MA gave us... Hence, we learned that our MINI was traveling on the NYKline and not on a WW ship. We were able to track it from Southhampton, through the North Atlantic, the Panama Canal and is currently "out of range" en route to San Diego, CA. We used AIS Maritime/Google Earth to track it along with other FREE AIS sites. In addition, we were able to actually see the vessel as it made its way through the last leg of the Miraflores Locks at the Panama Canal. We have been granted by Port Officials permission for a tour of the port where the ship will dock on the day it is scheduled to arrive. We hope to see this mega car carrier up close and personal way before our MINI makes it to the BMW processing center and WAY before our MA does.

ready2roll,
Wow what a lot of information! I just ordered my Mini today!!! I have the production number, and a great MA that promises to send me updates. She was hoping to get mine in ASAP (to bad that does not mean 'today' lol)
I've ordered a MCSC, Spiced Orange, with Polar interior. I must admit I've already ordered some cool bling for it!
Here's to a few sleepless nights full of excitment!

Thanks for the help. How did you find out what K-line ship you were on? I was under the impression that that needs to come form your MA? How long after the production is complete do you need to wait until the VIN shows up on the WW website. I guess if it there are no results on WW website I can assume it is on a K-Line ship?
Hi. This is what I did to track my MINI... FYI, My BMW dealer was oblivious
on how to research my MINI’s or the whereabouts, so I searched high and low for info on how to track it myself. I learned a lot from NAM posts, but I searched other places too. The individual that put this link { http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/07/14/how-to-follow-a-new-bmw-from-order-to-shipping-and-to-delivery/ } together REALLY “put it together “ well! I took his #8 (Scroll below. Note: the NOTES added are due to my experience) to share with you. This should get you started… You definitely need to go back and check out this post (which I attached a link to) as it is absolutely amazing and makes for a good read. He’s included pictures too!BTW- my MINI did not take the route as his BMW; however, I was able to sift through his information, educate myself regarding the terminology & processes on the overall logistic of things, extracting what I needed to begin my search. Heck, it’s been an education- my geography increased volumes as I quickly learned about “crossing the pond” and bodies of water, what a RO RO is, maritime links (to track the ship via satelite), live cameras to see it cross the Panama Canal and a bunch of fun stuff, etc…
My MINI is in Mexico right now, and due to arrive in San Diego, CA on 2/25/13. It arrives in my home port of Port of Hueneme 2-days later. Congrats to you and happy searching...
Ready2roll,
This is what I borrowed:
"8. Track your car, if shipped by Wallenius Wilhelmsen, using your VIN #:
WBAWC73569E06XXXX NOTE: You will find your VIN# on the print out your BMW Dealer would have given you.
http://www.2wglobal.com/www/wep/index.jsp
• Go to “track and trace” cargo section on the homepage, at the bottom right.
(as displayed June 2009, this function has changed location over the months)
NOTE: Click on the “All Users” live button link (there is an padlock icon that shows it as being unlocked)
• Enter the VIN in the “Cargo ID” field of the form
• Hit “Track”
• Status will be displayed once Wallenius has taken taken possession of the car and selected it for shipment.
• You will then know the ships name.
• If “no records are available” is displayed, Wallenius Wilhelmsen does not yet have your car in their possession, your car is not being
transported by their fleet, or the tracking system is lagging behind actual status – which is quite common.
NOTE: My car never was displayed on this tracking site although Wallenius Wilhelmsen is listed as the logistics carrier, and agent for my ship, operated by ARC."

Hi there, MINI-LSE---
Our MA only gave us the VIN# once the car went into production. Communication has been kinda slow & spoaradic. No activity; no information. He did let us know when it was completing the production phase and when it was about to ship from Southampton. At that point, we started to investigate a lot on our own as to what ship it might be on and visited the WW site and entered our VIN# which produced the info on the ship. Interestingly, I learned that WW books with different carriers (such as the K-Line) AND that there are multiple WW fleets--depending what part of the world they are going to. I believe that the fellow that created the great link I referenced had his car sent to the East Coast.

What your MA has done is normal, my MA says that i find things out before she does. Your MA can find out you ship name as they set the reservation, as I found out with my last Mini. In reality, the MA has what information you mentioned, but they don't come into the picture until your car hits the POE. They line up the trucking from VDC to their dealership, detail it, put on dealer installs, and delivered, and they get paid. A good MA does more, but most are more interested in selling more cars, and delivering them. That's how they get paid, delivered Mini's.
Great thread!! I'm still waiting...
Hi All,
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who's SO VERY anxious for my little beauty to arrive! I've been checking the Owners Lounge hourly it seems! For about 4 weeks now! It still says "En Route". But tonight, from reading this post, I was able to find out that it's ON a ship (The Mignon), and that it's due to arrive in port on March 7th. It's taking alot longer than I was hoping, but at least I have some way to track it now!!
I can't wait to get her!! To DRIVE her! To take pictures of her!! ...and, yes, I've already bought some bling for her, too! :-)
Thanks for the GREAT thread! Hang in there everyone! We WILL have our perma-grin soon!

Congratulations!!! Mine is in Bremerhaven waiting for a ship. I was hoping that my car left on the two last ships yet when I enter my VIN on the Cargo ID I get nothing??!! I have been there since the 25th and the next ship going to Baltimore is not until the 9th. Argggg!!!!
It's interesting to note: You can't really go by the dates on these websites. For example... the "Voyage Details" on my MINI's ship says the ETD (estimated time of DEPARTURE) was Feb 19th. But the "Status Details" for the cargo says it was loaded on the vessel on Feb 21st. But if you look at the "Vessel Details" sailing schedule, it says the ship didn't even arrive in Southampton until Feb 25th!?!! So how did they load it on the vessel on the 21st??! IDK... something screwy goin on here... LOL!!
Hello everyone. This is our second MINI and we (my fianceé and I) are very excited! This has been the longest 8 weeks that I've experienced since I ordered my Bimmer last year
This thread has been an awesome resource for us to track our baby. It looks like we're in the homestretch as the vessel, California Highway, arrived at the final port in Brunswick, Georgia on February 28. With that said, does anyone know how long it would typically take to get here in Miami?

I browsed several pages but didn't see this... apologies if redundant, but is the shipping port the same for the Countryman? I kind of assumed they just truck them over to the same destination port from the other factory...
Check out this link. It was useful for me.

Didn't see my CM on the WW site, but it's been en route for about 2.5 weeks now. I guess it's a waiting game for me since I can't track what ship it's on. My MA said it's due to arrive the first week of April though, the crappy thing about it is, I won't be in town to pick it up. Lol, just my luck! At least have a brand new CM when I get back!

If its been on a boat for that long and you cant track it then there is a chance that you're on the K line. Also, if its in the great big blue then your MA has the name of the boat. Whether or not they know where to look is a better question though. good luck, let us know when u find out what boat it is.
Now awaiting transport! (Dealer sends us weekly updates, so I can't get any more accurate on the dealer source'd events.)
