Engine Light on New Clubman
Engine Light on New Clubman
The other day, I got into the car and started it as usual..got out of the parking lot and "pow" no power, engine light came on! The center indicator had an engine icon with it half "clear" and half shaded. There was an immediate drop in power, felt like there wasn't any power, could barely manage above 2,000rpm..
Called the service people and told them the problem (kinda pissed - only 500 miles!)..It took me three tries to finally get a rep (Annapolis), and he told me to try to get it to a point of safety and call for Roadside. Well, I drove the "damn" thing home. It took me a while as I was babying it the whole way (20 miles).
Now I am no stranger to new vehicles and major issues - after all I am a Toureg "chump" (worst vehicle EVER!). All the way home, I am having Toureg flashbacks....and that was a nightmare!
Roadside was contacted and the vehicle was towed the next day. I had to contact the service department on DAY 1 - at 1:00pm (they got the car at 8:00am), and had NOT gotten to the car! By 4:00pm, the Huge Storms rolled through the area..so no action on Day 1!
Day 2, I wait patiently, and finally call at 1:00pm, the service rep told me that they were waiting for Mini to call back - since the computer read no problems (oh no, Toureg deja vu!)..I ask when he expected to know something he said hopefully by end of day..so I called at 4:00pm. The SA said that Mini didn't know any fixes and that they should flash the computer and return to customer (Toureg stories all over again!)..the SA said that he was uncomfortable with that answer - and that something caused the problem - and he would have the Tech look at all electrical fuses and stuff like that. So I relented, and said I too want to know what caused the issue and that he can keep it one more night...and I want to know something tomorrow (Day 3). That is where I left it...don't know anything else..just a little pissed....I don't want to go through the Toureg fiasco again..it was a horrible experience!
By the way, the wife is bugging me MUCH MUCH less about this car and this issue then she did with the Toureg! She says she actually LOVES this car and hopes that the problem is a minor problem....we both miss it...CLUBMAN is fun!
Anyone else have this issue, or know where I should point the SA?
My Clubman is the Lightning Blue - roll-out version (I wanted immediate gratification - couldn't wait months for the car!)

Update - BMW still has the car, they checked gas quality, it was good. Still puzzled, they are contacting BMW again! I am really disapointed, on Monday the dealership repair shop will have the car almost as long as I have! I might need to send out a Private Eye to keep tabs on the car so it won't fool around with the beemers!
Was really looking forward to taking the Clubman on a 300 round trip drive to Tides Inn in Irvington, Va...got a golf tourney there. Now I have to take the Accord!
Hope to see the car back Monday, just want it fixed, I hate visiting service departments - had a lot of experience with that before with the Touareg!
