How do you get rid of this big goofy grin?

Just picked up my new MCS (Lightning Blue, Premium, Cold Weather and Sport) and I'm having trouble with my face cramping up from this big goofy grin! It starts at 6:15 am and it's just starting to ease up a little now at 9:00 p.m. I've had 35 plus years of driving pickup trucks and just made the jump to a Mini. Question, does this feeling subside after a few months or am I gonna have to get use to tired cheeks and a case of the day time giggles?

My wife asked how I like driving the Mini and I said " a day in the Mini is like a day at Six Flags!"

I love driving again, Thanks Mini!

PS-First tank Mini 31 mpg, 2002 Chevy S-10 4x4 14 mpg, yup I think I'll keep the Mini!

I completely understand how you feel! I've owned my 2007 MCS for little over a week and i absolutely LOVE IT. I owned a 2006 Pontiac Solstice before this and the MINI is definitely a better car.

I just introduced m'self too. 2005 Chevy Crew Cab is my other vehicle. 15.5 mpg city. Mini's getting about 25-30 mpg. A huge difference at the pump, and a bigger difference on the streets.

I got to drive one for about a week back in '02 while photo'ing for a car magazine. The feeling always stuck with me, apparently, since I own one now.

You couldn't pay me to substitute a day at Six Flags for an hour in my MINI. And no, the smile never goes away ... unless, of course, it gets banged up. Then the smile turns to tears.

I get the PGs, permanent grins, every time I drive!
The MC is getting 41 MPG VS Jeep at 15. I was afraid to get the MCS, my face would get stuck!

You don't get rid of the Grin . Your face just gets strong enough to maintain the grin. Keep working on the grin and it'll get easier.

I'm grinning right now, just thinking about driving to work in the morning, in 5 hours... With the old asthmatic japanese compact, I used to have a REALLY hard time getting up in the morning, now, not so much... I've been averaging 15-30 minutes earlier getting to drive-time every day since I drove my new-to-me (thanks dad!) Mini home to Topeka from Tampa. Now I am thinking about getting a job in Lawrence or Kansas City so I can commute, instead of a 7 minute city run. Nuts! I tell ya! Nuts!

Quick question, how long does it take to tell if you have a boy or a girl?

I've owned my MCSc for over a year now and the smile/grin have not gone away yet.
Since I have a cabrio the real problem is all the bugs that are stuck in my teeth from not being able to close my wide open grin.

As for fuel mileage... well I haven't saved a penny yet, not because I don't get better mileage than my old Jeep but because I'll find any excuse to drive my MINI.

Well gotta go now, I have to drive my MINI to the end of the driveway to check the mail.

...Even my daughter has noticed "the grin" particularly now that I've gotten through the break-in period and can use the "fun" (sport) button!

Thanks to all...

A big thanks to everyone here at NAM. It's comforting in a way to know that so many of us are afflicted with BGGS (Big Goofy Grin Syndrome) and yet somehow carrying on with life and our day to day activities however mundane or trivial they may be. I hope in time of need and when the face cramps become almost intolerable I can turn to this forum for relief.

You guys/gals are great!

p.s.- when you go to the garage late at night just before you go to bed and turn on the light just to make sure it's still in there... well is this serious and do I need professional help from a Mini psychiatrist? Can this turn into ADD?

lol

I consider it an amazing thing that every time, for the past 5.5 years, that I've gotten behind the wheel of my MINI (I've had two), the drive has been a grin-producing, eagerly anticipated thrill. That's pretty remarkable. I'm not sure one can place a monetary value on that, but suffice it to say that a MINI is something special and the best automotive dollar I have ever spent. And this doesn't even count the time grinning when it's parked and just sitting there!!!

Tucking your MINI in at night. . . normal.
Knowing your sullen teenage son can hear you happily chirping, "Goodnight, sweetie!" to the car. . . PRICELESS!!!
