Howdy from Texas - Impatiently Waiting

Hello to all ! This is my first post here on NAM. I've been in love with MINIs for as long as I can remember, and finally ordered mine last month (April '08).

I just spoke with 866-ASK-MINI, hoping to get more current info than I found in the OL, and found that I'm in production week 19, and my MINI is at the port waiting to assigned to a ship. It sounds like I still have at least 3-4 weeks to wait----plenty of time to continue contemplating names.

Just wanted to say "Hi!" from Dallas. I love this board and have gotten so much great info from it. My dealer says by the time this is done, I might know more about the cars than he does .

My MINI was born the same day. I am at the port waiting for mine to ship as well. I purchased mine at Moritz Arlington, TX. We should be on the same boat. Unfortunately, I don't see another boat leaving at the WW site for SC until 5/18. Someone told me that there are actually other transports besides WW, but I am not sure how you could track with another shipper. The trip takes about 14 days once we are loaded.

Hey there, Speedpro---

I purchased from Moritz MINI also. Who was your MA? I had Neil Scheckter, who has been absolutely awesome to work with.

Yes, I have a feeling our MINIs have another week or so to sit in Southhampton. I'm going to keep checking the WW site and calling ASK MINI because I'm OCD'ing over this. This part is harder than choosing all the options.
Cheers!

Hi back from Austin, TX! My Clubman's a few weeks ahead of yours, and should be rolling off it's ship and heading toward the VDC any time now.

Hi, Peaches!

Come on by and visit your local club too! www.metroplexmini.org

We have monthly meetings (lately they have been in Addison) and several regular events throughout the year. Social events, track events, Auto-X, mod/maintenance, driving and all sorts of other stuff!

There's a chance you may be on a K-Line vessel. The Sierra Nevada Highway's set to put in at Southampton on 5/12 and reach Charleston on 5/22. There's also the Western Highway (5/16 - 5/29).

Cool, Doogs! I really liked the Clubman, but since this is my first journey into MINIland, I decided to go with the MCS.

I got my Masters in Austin and had my first real job there way back in the 80's. I miss it and we head down there every chance we get----such a fun town and so different from Dallas. (That's a good thing, IMO! )

Will do! My MA said you've got a wild bunch and that I'd fit in quite nicely!

Hey, I have to compliment you on your PW/PW color combo. NNNNNNNIIIIIIIIICE!

*waves* Another MINI Texan! Yay!

I grew up in Lewisville, and I still have family all over the place up there (Dallas, Arlington, Corinth, North Richland Hills, and Possum Kingdom Station). I like Austin much better though, so I stayed down here after college.

Doogs: Have you seen any other Clubmans (Clubmen?) driving around here? I haven't seen any outside of the dealership in SA. If I spot you, you'll be the first. Lol.

I've seen two. One Astro Black/Silver that I've seen twice outside of Barton Square Mall, and one Hot Chocolate/Silver near Zilker.

Which strikes me as odd, considering there seem to be as many Minis in Austin as there are in San Antonio (can't wait for the dealership to open here later this year!)

EDIT: Just saw a third on my way back from lunch. MY/S Clubman in downtown, near 10th & Brazos

Heh - I did just the opposite. Grew up in Dallas, went to UT, and I've been here ever since. Nowhere else I'd rather live!

Thanks for sharing the schedule. I knew there were other shippers, but I didn't know how to find them. Is there an easy way to track with the KLINE ships to see if your MINI is onboard?

Nope, but your MA can confirm (my R53 rode the K-Line Emden over back in 2006).

It's almost easier to take, not being able to track it. WW's tracking mechanism is about as much fun as the Owner's Lounge.

Our MA is Jim. I haven't heard from him since we put our order in. We have been contacted by the dealer a few times, but nothing from Jim. I think that my wife talked to Neil last time, and he was very helpful.

Hopefully, our ship will sail soon for the US. We plan on taking a trip to Florida the 3rd week of June, so we are stressing out waiting for it to arrive.

Neil is 'da man'. I bought Jango from him years ago when he was just an intern. He still knows me on sight, though having a distinctive car helps! :D

I've spotted a handful of Clubmen in 'the wild' here in Dallas, but they definately come out of the woodwork at the local club meetings.

PW is the fastest color, so the more, the better in my book! I'm actually running PWx3: PW body, PW roof, PW painted arches. Hmmmm... custom plate: PWCUBED

Hello everyone. I just ordered (May 2)my PW/black Clubman S with Conv. and Sport Packages, LSD, HiFi, leatherette and sport stripes from Moritz in Arlington. Neil was my MA, too, and I was impressed at how easy it was to work with him. I have been reading the posts on the board here for a few months and want to thank everyone because it was very helpful.

Since your MA is Neil, you'd better get reading. He's as good as they come. Welcome to the wonderful world of MINI. And come join us at the local club, like Aaron said - Metroplex MINI. And by the way Aaron loves to blow his horn.

Peaches,

Check with Neil. My MINI was finished the same day as yours and is on a ship now. We are both getting our MINIs from the same dealer, so we should have the same delivery dates.

Oh, I'm checking with Neil, alright. At LEAST once a day. He's the best---writes or calls back almost immediately. Alas . . . . still no shipping news as of an hour ago.

It probably says so upthread somewhere, but which ship did you get on?

Are you calling 1-800-ASK-MINI as well? Sometimes they have better info... sometimes the MA.

Ask the ASK-MINI folks to run through your spec for you, just in case is got mis-entered (trust me... it happens :D )

WOO-HOO!!!

My MINI now shows En Route on the Owner's Lounge site. WW still doesn't have my information, so I am pretty sure I am on one of the K-line ships. I hope that yall are on the same ship!
