Ordering tomorrow!

Hello everyone!

I'm new here (first post!) and thought I'd say hi. I'll be ordering my MCS tomorrow in SoCal and am having trouble sleeping with excitement and agony over options. I've been a long time fan of MINIs but they just never fit my lifestyle. I carry a lot of sporting gear (surfboards, kiteboards, stinky wet suits, etc) around with me and have always loved my trucks for this purpose.
I've reached a point where my truck is all paid off and isn't going anywhere and the time seemed ripe to pick up my dream car, practical or not! I'll keep the truck around for the big gear hauls.

Started with looking at used MINIs and ended up here, about to custom order a new perfect one. There's even a part of me that is thinking about switching to a Clubman to aid my gear obsession! I'm not so sure I love the clubman and the additional cost could be better spent on fun options for an MCS. The extra room would be nice though...

Here's where I'm at as of right now (could change any second):
'08 DS/B MCS w/black stripes
Cold package
Premium package
SS
DSC
LSD
Rear fog
white turn sigs
anthracite headliner
leatherette
MFSW
Bluetooth/Ipod
Roof Rack

No sport package as I want to upgrade to aftermarket wheels later. I might go ala carte with the sunroof and hi-fi as I don't like auto AC units.

Other color schemes that I just can't stop thinking about are AB/B and EB/B w/stripes. They all just look so good!

Any thoughts on factory stripes vs dealer stripes vs after market?

Also, how strict is the MINI warranty? Do after market items like CAI void warranty?

Hey there! As soon as you order your MINi be prepared for an agonizing wait! (Just kidding...a little bit....well, it's not that bad)..

I'm in San Diego...are you going to order from Brecht? If you are, I would definitely recommend Rod Johnson as your MA, he's awesome!

well i asked my MA about aftermarket mods. He said its all up to the service department. he didnt mentions anything CAIs though. But make sure you ask your service manager if you are not sure because some places are really strict and others more relaxed about modding.

as for the wait....im still jumping on the computer checking the sites everyday, sorry i dont think sleeping pill will help you out =)

If it makes sense---keep the spec, but go with the Clubman. It'll be more practical for your gear, and you just might find yourself in a place where you'll be able to sell the truck. In that light, 2K isn't that much of a premium...

Sean Sunda is the last remaining "original" Brecht MA--you can't go wrong with him, either.

As of the weekend they only had a couple of Clubman slots left, so it might not be an option, but I'll ask. I'm getting excited, but still not sure on colors. They all look so nice.

Congrats!*

*as long as you're not paying more than MSRP, as I know a lot of SoCal MINI dealers are charging markups.

That seems to be true, but I just called around and found the places that where selling for MSRP and told my local dealer I was going there. They then agreed to also sell for MSRP.

Assuming all goes well, I'll be entering the depths of waiting-for-my-car hell in only a few hours. I'm excited.

Anyone have any good questions to ask the dealer before the final handshake?
