I just purchased on 05 MCS this week and it AMAZING. Now the fun of modding starts. I won't be doing too much since it's my daily driver and I need to maintain fuel economy and reliability. I am thinking about hitting the tuning event in Sarasota in April. Also will be ordering the 15% pulley, belt and new plugs. FUN FUN FUN!

You are off to the good start.
Tuning is a good idea.
Cold air intake and cat back exhaust is also possible.
Stock rims are very heavy and runflats are stiff (but safe if you have risk of flats)
Light rims and non runflat Ultra HP or Max Summer tires are great.
16x7 is a good size for the MINI, light enough, good selection of wheels and good selection of tires.
Check out the vendors on NAM.
Tirerack.com (alex) and edgeracing.com have wheels and tires.
