WEEK 12 Support Group
WEEK 12 Support Group
I don't think anyone's started a week 12 thread, so here goes.
I ordered on 2/22. When I called ASK MINI, the ever-so-patient lady told me that if I call back this Fri., 3/7, she should be able to give me a production date.
I did find out from her that the week specified is for production completion, not production start, if that helps anyone.
I also found the ships to east and west coasts are direct. I am on the east coast and the closest port is Charleston, SC.
I have read the "How to track your MINI" thread, and it has excellent info. BUT, it does not tell you how to be PATIENT! I feel like an obsessed child, again ... "But, WHEN, mommy, WHEN?" Amusingly pathetic, esp. given my age. But, hey? Getting older doesn't necessarily mean growing up!

I here ya CarolinaCooper. I ordered my first MINI on the 26th, two days after my 42nd birthday. And I am as impatient as a 2-year old in a toy store. You are right about the thread on "How to track your MINI". I have a production date of March 12th. I am way over on the west coast so I don't know how much longer this adds to the wait.
How do you get the badge and description for a signature?
How do you get the badge and description for a signature?
Took me a while to figure that one out. Left hand menu, near the top you will see "User CP." Choose that and then "Edit Signature."
From there you can paste in images and make a custom signature. In the "FAQs" (farther down the left side), there's some helpful tips on using the site, setting up the signature, changing profile, etc.
Basically, to get the image, I found one in a post and copied it to my desktop. Then, in the Edit Signature window, I browed for the picture and loaded it (there's a text button that prompts you to do that). I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone, but I saw "[SIC][SIC]," or something like that, appear twice in the signature window. When I tested a preview, the image was there.
Hope that helps. I'm new to this whole blogging thing, so I'm learning on the fly.

I am new to blogging as well. All I know right now is that I have found a community of people with the same fervor for the MINI as me! Millions of unique vehicles but a single desire to share their experience, excitement, insight and expectations. I think NAM is AWESOME!!!
I have amassed a lot of information here at NAM. It's a great site, and I agree with you. I'm starting to get the hang of navigating these threads, too. Learned some stuff which helped me make my decision to buy. Forgot to mention your production date of 3/12 ... That makes you week 11, right? So jealous! I'm surprised no one else is falling into week 12 at this point ... Maybe my baby's just special, huh? Worth the wait, so long as I don't need tranxene myself ...
R U into picking out a name for your baby? Still deciding here. Seems to pass the time.

You are right. I am in week 11, but I am enjoying our conversations. There is so much to read about as far as MINI's are concerned. Learning about the ins & outs of ordering, customizing, caring & maintaining your MINI. I am still thinking of names but nothing has hit me yet. I am thinking about calling it "Porter" after one of my favorite adult beverages. That's just a thought.
Arrgh! Just called ASK-MINI today. Still no production date? Ordered 2/22. So frustrating! dvlynsyde, how far ahead were you able to find out your production date?
BTW, I like "Porter" for the clubman. Almost a double meaning there, given it's a Clubman with more cargo room ... Your reasoning is more "palatable," tho, pardon the pun.
Leaning toward "Skye" (for the oxygen blue color) or "Pez" (remember Pez candy?) myself. Still plenty of time to decide!

Just talked to my MA, and my baby should go into production Fri. or Sat (3/14-15). Yea!

oh the wait will be so worth it
The most frustrating however..your MINI will be built really quicky and sit on the dock for a week for a boat :P
but at least the trip across the pond to charleston is an average 12 days!

I've been watching the Emden make its way across the pond. Looks like about a couple days left. 3/16 dock date, right?
To anyone who might end up here ... Seems right now I'm the only one in week 12. Who knows? Maybe they'll all be right-hand drives that week.
Anyway, an update for the record. Found out my baby started production this morning. Completion set for 3/20.

Hey CarolinaCooper, mine is still waiting on the docks. The original boat that was supposed to take it filled up so now I have to wait an additional 9 days for the next boat to arrive and pick it up. TALK ABOUT FRUSTRATED!!!
I ordered on 2/26, finished production on 3/8, on the dock and waiting since 3/9 and the next boat arrives on 3/22. I know its going to be worth the wait once it arrives. But man it's hard!!!! I may have to start a week 13 or 14 thread????

How do you figure out what week you are? I have a feeling I'm in the right place. I ordered 3/7 and will be comlpeted 3/17. I'm havin' a St. Paddy's Day baby!

Whoa! That is a while ... You're on the west coast, so it looks like we won't be shipmates
, but how did you find out the date of the next boat? I'd like to see what's pullint into Southampton around my completion date ...
Dock wait or production wait? Which is more frustrating?

My MA told me it averages about 7-10 days to get onto a ship. Since your date and mine are close and you are in OH, our babies could end up shipmates ... If you haven't read the "How to Track Your Mini" sticky in 1st Gear, it's a great resource.
New MCS: Ordered!
So, after many months (if not years) of looking around and research, I've finally pulled-the-trigger on a MINI Cooper S, Red w/White Roof, Manual, and most of the sport trimmings.
The MCS will essentially be taking the load off my 1992 Toyota MR2, that will remain a loved member of the family, and compliment our bad-weather 2000 Subaru Forester.
I've always loved small, quick-handling, sporty cars (I had a 1971 Datsun 240Z also), and I wanted good mileage (as gas will only get more expensive), so the MCS was the best combination - while also retaining good visibility.
So far, the buying experience at Sterling has been very good (thanks Ahmet). The order was placed 3/7, I understand it went into production on 3/11, and I'm hoping to have it in early April.

Congratulations, Sleepy H! From what I read of your other cars, betting you'll enjoy your newest baby as much or more! Fell in love with these cars when they were reintroduced in '02 ... Finally taking the plunge!
Well CarolinaCooper I think you and I will be getting our babies around the same time. I guess there is about 12-14 days extra for west coast delivery. I am still pumped up but this last setback of missing the initial ride has dampened my spirits.
I am hoping to have the first one in my city!
In a town full of SUV's, Hummers & lifted trucks, I can't wait to see the faces on some of the local rednecks here.

So if your production is completed this week of the 17th -21st, this is considered your production week?
Last week, when I called Ask MINI, they said my Clubman was supposed to go into production this week, and then said "you'll be week 14"...if it all worked out. I plan to call them tomorrow in hopes of some clarification.

I bet your spirits are dampened alright. BUT, there is a group of clubmans in the week-14 group, so at least your ahead in that regard ...
Do you know what ship you're scheduled for now?

Otra,
I stand corrected ... and a little frustrated. Called ASK MINI today to find out where my baby was in the process. The answer I got today was different from that on Friday. Apparently, the production date does NOT mean when assembly starts. My assembly starts this Thurs., 3/20, 1 day short of 1 month from my order date!
Also, he contradicted earlier response. Your week means when production starts, not ends. Not what I was told before, but, whatever.
As told today (will check, again, later), about 1 week on the dock. 12 days transit to east cost dock. Depending on order of loading/unloading, up to 1 week at dock (first on, last off). then to distribution. After that, to dealer for cleanup and inspection and any dealer installs.
Build completion to be 3/23 or 3/24. Thougth I'd pass this on. Recommend you ask them when it will start on the assembly line and when it will roll off.
I did ask about transport. They said I won't know which ship I'm on until AFTER it rolls off. You might want to double check this, too, as your baby's build nears completion. I'll keep checking, too ...
Sorry for any confusion. I'm just passing on what I've been told.

As of this morning, Stella is officially "Awaiting Transport". Now I think the real frustration begins. Knowing she's somewhere out there, just trying to find her way home...
I'm second guessing myself on the sport suspension.

I don't know what's wrong with the Ask MINI folks I talk to - both yesterday and then about 30 minutes ago, when I called yet again, they told me their system was down.
Oh well, I'll give 'em another call in a few hours.
