Just ordered, time to make room in garage

Hi All,

I ordered last Saturday 2/23, after spending a lot of time looking at the options on miniusa.com and not being able to make sense of many of them. So I found this site and then REALLY learned about the mini and the options to have in them. This is my configuration, it has not gone into production yet and I was told last weekend that it might be 8-10 weeks to delivery. Have others on the West Coast who recently ordered 2008s have experienced this long of a wait or is it more a 4-6 week thing?

Well, here's the config:

paint
Chili Red Body Color $0
Black Roof/Mirrors $0

Way to control yourself. When I first configured my Clubman on 12/23, it was $23,950. Now it's up to $25,700... though $500 of that is my wife's fault and $250 of that is the dealer's mistake for ordering a Piano Black interior. They got the order in at the last minute, and it was too late to fix their mistake on the next day when I pointed it out to them.

Almost the same spec as mine except mine was an MCS. Plus you might want to look into some other options like the rear foglight to complete your console toggles(really suggest this one at the very least), maybe the anthracite headliner(I like the darker interior), and white turn signals. I skipped most of the other automatic stuff except for the comfort access(I really like not having to pull out the keys all the time) and the auto rearview dimming mirror. Really nice for those big old suvs that pull up behind you suddenly and you can't take any hands off the wheel to adjust your mirror manually.

Welcome and congrats on your order! 8-10 weeks isnt too bad in my opinion compared to when we ordered our 2006 MC and waited 6 months. We just took delivery of our 08 last month and waited about 6 weeks for it to arrive which was impressive for us! Keep us posted on the process for delivery!

Thanks for the all suggestions. I will look into those options once I start using the car and see how much I need them.

It is a standard MC, not a MCS.

Well, coming to the Mini Cooper after a long chain of utilitarian/austere Toyotas and old VWs, I felt that the standard comfort/trim level in the MC was more than enough for me.

If it had been up to me, I would have gotten a bare bones MC with manual transmission, same color scheme. But the wife needs the Auto trans, then when she found out about DSC she wanted it too, as well as the Bluetooth option. Then she liked the sport seats with the cloth checkered pattern. At that point I realized that I might as well get an option in there since I had blown my original budget, so I went with the Hi Fi. I forget at what point the MFSW worked its way in.

The long wait has started, the vehicle is finally scheduled for production, but thankfully I have a few other concerns to keep my mind off of it. Like selling the old VW beetle convertible currently in the garage

jjr I was originally scheduled for Week 10 Production, but Molly began Production on 2/28 (Week 9). She will be completed on 3/05. I've been told Early to Mid-May for Delivery. I HOPE sooner...this wait is KILLING ME.

Wow, that is a long wait indeed! I was hoping for an early May delivery but it seems that I'm a few weeks behind you, so that's off the plate now. I am sure that as soon as the garage is empty, then the hard waiting will really kick in.

I guess I'll have to think up stuff to keep me distracted during that time. Maybe come up with a better name for the car... right now the working title is "Diablito" (little devil... color scheme is red & black)

My MA originally told me 9 weeks. To the West Coast, I think a range of 6 to 10 weeks is good.

I ordered my MCS on 2/21 and it should leave port on 3/4, arriving West Coast 3/24, a little over 4 weeks later. Then it depends on what the backlog is at Port Hueneme, and how long it takes to get it up here (gee, I could make that drive in 3 to 4 hours easily).

So relax and kick back a bit. Once you're registered with the Owner's Lounge you can get a PDF of the owner's manual, and actually read the thing. There are a lot of things you can personalize, and guess what, you and your prettier half may want things personalized differently! You can start getting that stuff figured out.

Cheers--

jjr, welcome to NAM! I like your specs...the MINI is definitely very nice bone stock, but you'll be happy to have the MFSW. Back in the early days of 2002, some folks had to wait almost a year for their MINIs, so your wait isn't too bad.

Hi, JJR, Sf! Congrats on your new MINI! I ordered a day before you. When you get your production # from your dealer, if they didn't tell you, call 866-ASK-MINI to find your production week. The week they state is the week your baby should be completed.

I am scheduled for week 12 and just started a thread in the "1st Gear" forum, called "Week 12 Support Group." If you're part of that group, please join in! If not, the other weeks are also listed there, and you can track your baby and check with other "parents" until arrival!
