awaiting transport

Awaiting transport... I guess that means all of our mini's are down by the dock smoking a cigarette and cursing like sailors...

No doubt they are also downing a final pint at the pub before heading out to sea.

time frame

Doe anyone know a rough time frame as to how long it takes for the cars to get to the dealer? I have heard in another thread that it is around 5 weeks from the time it finishes production to the time it gets to the dealer!?! That seems awfully long.

Erring on the side of caution, let's assume 5-7 days at the shipyard waiting for a boat. 4-5 days at sea + port stops. 5-7 days at the port stop getting checked and preened and waiting for a truck. 3-4 days to get to the dealer depending where you live. 1-2 days at the dealer for a last primping. How many days is that? 20-25+ days about. Maybe sooner maybe later.

I'm just guesstimating here, if someone has real information, please correct me.

This is just my guess.

So out of everyone here what is the percentage of east coast vs west coast in terms of vehicle destination centers? I am in chicago so east coast for me... who else am I sharing a boat ride across with?
I'm in Chicago area also. Ordered from Bill Jacobs in Naperville.
Placed my order 2/29, won't be completed until 3/14. I think yours will leave before mine, but I'll be watching to see where you are so I'll know I'm only 3 days behind you.

The 3/14 completion estimate seems to still be set for mine and it's in the paint shop today! So giddy!

The MA I spoke to at Bill Jacobs MINI (where I ordered mine as well ) said they've been getting them in roughly six weeks after order - three weeks to build, three weeks to ship. I'm not sure how rough an estimate that is though.

Woohoo .. I just spoke with Sonny today at AskMini and he said my car is in the paint shop today and should be finished production today as well. He then gave me a brief outline of what'll happen next and that it should take 21 days for it to reach port here on the West Coast once it's been shipped.

*excited*

Yep, my bad. The Elektra leaves Southampton the 20th and arrives in Halifax, NS the 27th. One week exactly. Then you have to add port stops, one day for each.

After reading some of the posts on here I think you are rapidly approaching THAT point!! Just wait the closer it gets, the worse it gets, and then, she's all yours! My girl will be in port the 16th. I'm not sure how long after that, but I'm right here in Charleston so my MA said I get to see her before I get to take her home

Does anyone have a booking number yet? OL and ASKMINI have been updated to Awaiting Transport, but the WW website doesn't have my VIN associated with a booking number yet...

Getting closer to driving her, but the waiting doesn't get any easier...

"Bumped"

I thought I would be on the Trianon. Missed it and now on the Madame Butterfly. 8 days later. Worse, I should have been on the Tornoto but my dealer listed the wrong steering wheel, so I got a new produciton number. Auuggh!!! Patience Grasshopper.

Integrity!!

I'm booked on to the Integrity, leaving S'Hampton Saturday p.m., arriving NYC 24 MAR, Balt 26 Mar, CHS 29 MAR, Brunswick GA 31st.
For delivery to GA will it go to CHS or Brunswick? I think Brunswick is only for offload of BMWs...

Thulewx... joining you on the Integrity

Finally was able to figure out what ship I'm going to be on.

Hate that my car was completed on the 7th, but will not be putting
to sea until tomorrow. Oh well, I'm about 3 weeks away from being able
to drive it anyway .

Knee surgery Tuesday... just in time for the NCAA tournament.

I am in the same boat you are in.... My car is coming to Chicago. My port of destination (you can find out yours on the shipping web site) is Charleston SC. So is there a vehicle distribution center in SC or do they have to truck the cars up to NJ?

There's a VDC in SC, I live near it...but I think there is also one in NJ or NY, not sure which.

I'm pretty sure there'sa VDC in CHS, if not in Brunswick where they put the BMWs together...
It's true what they say - each step it's closer, you get more anxious

It used to be New Jersey, not sure if it is still there though, when I got my first mini in 03 that is where it went.
