ARRRRGH!!! When will my car go into production??????

My dear husband ordered my car on Christmas Eve. It's not early February and my car is just now due to begin production. And every time I turn around, some lucky person around here is surprisingly bumped up a week or two. Or they go into production within days of placing their order!

Is it because it's a convertible? I didn't get a bunch of fancy add-ons...cold weather, premium packages, chrono package, sport seats...

Ok...thanks...just had to get that off my chest.

It probably has to do with available dealer allocations. Who was your dealer and what did they tell you?

Mini of Dallas...I think they told my husband 4-6 weeks when he placed the order, but he knew that it wouldn't be that fast, with the holidays right there. So he figured more like early March, which is how it's shaping up.

Yes, they told me "first week of February" so I should be on schedule to begin production this week. I'm just losing patience from waiting so long for the production to begin!

They must just not have the allocations because I ordered on Dec 30th and it was in production on Jan 9th and finished on the 14th.

I ordered from Bob Smith Mini/BMW in SoCal.

Holly, You just don't know. I have not heard of dealers letting you know how there allocations are scheduled. I was lucky enough for my car to get scheduled and built with a couple of weeks of placing my order. From you SIG, it looks like a car worth waiting for....

Wow! I guess I'm just too lucky! I ordered mine on 2-25-08 and just called 1-866-ASK-MINI and was given a completion date of 3-3-08! How long does it usually take from completion to shipping? Does anyone know?

Figure about five days or less to get out the factory door, on a train, and then on a boat. If your car is heading to the east coast, it'll take about 12 days on the boat to get across the ocean from the UK to South Carolina. If there are no hiccups, you should see your car by the last week of March.

All this disparity in timing is driving me crazy! Ordered mine (MCSB CR/B ) 19 Feb, sched. to go into prod on 9 March, so might see it by mid-April

THanks! As it turns out, my car (possibly Pearl or Buzbee) is on its way here. It was released to the transport company today, so hopefully it was put on a truck and will travel non-stop from Charleston to Dallas (although my MA said that sometimes they have stops along the way...). If all goes as planned, I should be motoring by Friday or Saturday at the latest!

That is about what the time frame is iamhollyb. Molly was ordered 2/19, started Production 2/28 and is scheduled for completion 3/05, dockside 'til 3/10 for trip across the pond. Yes it is killing me, but it will be so worth it.

Happy Motoring!!
