Week 49: Bit of a problem

So, it seems that the person inputing our order for a PW/B left off the B.

In other words a Pepper White S that may or may not have a black top according to the Owner's Lounge. We've already got our VIN and I've contacted the dealer to get the situation resolved but I'm wondering if we'll get sent back to the back of the line. Hmmm?

The good news is we caught it early. But, its still kinda frustrating.

Can't wait for our...Cooper S, PW/B, Black Lounge, Sport, Webspokes, Stripe Delete, Dead tree dash, Leather Wheel, Hot Butt Package, Flamethrower headlights, hole in roof, shiny bit. and for a limited time only slip

How long has your mini been "in the system"? I added something to mine and it took 48 hours to show on the site but I added it before it had a VIN number. I hope they can fix this without moving your place in line (unless you are before me ). I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

We ordered about 10 days ago. This is actually the second mistake we've caught. The delivery day is supposed to be Dec 7th - a Friday - which makes me think the workers will want to get outta the plant and hit the Pub. Lots of loose bolts for me to deal with.

When we caught the first mistake we added the Anthracite headliner and rear fogs. That extra toggle switch would have driven me nuts.

It is very easy for the dealer to paint the roof when it gets in. My dealer was doing one for a client that changed their mind. It was Laser Blue and they decided to do a white roof, but leave the mirrors blue. It looked good. The assembly line video shows that they are all produced with body colored roofs any way and then painted after the fact if it is requested.

Thats actually the concern I have. Since the car has the moonroof they'll have to remove the seals or tape them off. This might lead to leaks or wind noise. At least the factory has a quality control inspection to make sure it's right.

Oh well, we'll see.

In a production/assembly environment, it costs a great deal of time and dollars to do out of position work. If the error is MINI's fault, it will be corrected at the VDC. If it is your error, you are going to live with it.

It was a dealer issue. No big deal since it got corrected in the best way possible. I'll be getting a different production and VIN. Just waiting now.

I kinda had a similar situation happen to me. I originally went in to order an AB/B MCS and after seeing what the AB looked like, ended up switching to SS. A couple days later, I get the production number and see in the OL that it still says AB. But I'm not worried; I read on here that it takes a couple days to "correct" itself. A week later it still said AB. Called and found out that they were giving me a different production number and dates. Should be getting the car in the next 10-12 days or so!
