Ok this is weird
This was listed under the AIDA when I ran my VIN through WW this am
anyone ever see this:
WITHDRAWN FROM VESSEL SOUTHAMPTON 05/11/2007 15:12
LOADED ON VESSEL SOUTHAMPTON 05/11/2007 13:28
This was the initial car I purchased, ordered a 2nd one but out of curiosity have still been tracking the 1st one. Never seen withdrawn from vessel before? there was at least one other that said that too?

It would appear as if our cap'n has not decided to use the weather-reporting feature that allows us to track the Aida as it journeys across the pond. :( If he had used that feature, we'd see periodic updates every few hours here: http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=SBLI

Since we can't see much on the sailwx.info site, I thought I'd throw up a link for the AIS tracking site (which requires a registration giving a trial 2-week subscription to the free site). And since it's somewhat tough to navigate to useful areas of the world based on their website (at least for me), here's a wide-open North Atlantic link:

We should keep our eyes peeled a few days from now as the Aida approaches Georgia before she turns south and heads for Panama.

Cool!! Good job keeping track Neal...thanks for all the useful links!
I've been checking on it every day (ok, several times a day, lol!) Even though this is our second MINI, it's every bit as exciting/agonizing as it was the first time around. We can hardly wait to introduce "Wally" to his new brother!
Where are all the other new owners? Doesn't anyone else have a MINI coming over in this shipment? The booking number shows (I believe) 284 MINIs on board....where is everyone???

We can't see them any longer. There's a updated satellite view of the departure port where you can see them prior to getting loaded on the dock (it's linked in the first post of the thread). No we just have to trust the capable crew of the Aida is treating our MINIs with appropriate care.
Looks like the freighter is making good progress across the Atlantic. The updates in the sailwx.info site aren't consistent, but they're frequent enough that I can see that they're hauling butt on their way to Georgia.

Looks like the Aida has surfaced, if only for a moment. She's a bit over a hundred miles off the coast of Sable Island, which itself is a bit over a hundred miles from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I'm no professional, but she looks to be well on track to make it to port in Georgia on Thanksgiving.

Burble, what changes made you decide to get Wally a new brother or sister? What sort of options did you do different for the new MINI in the family?
zedaristo, I can only imagine how much fun you're going to be having with your MINI on the streets of San Fran. I'm in the Front Range of the Rockies out here in Colorado, and we've got lots of hilly twisties for me to conquer. Can't wait!
earache, I've seen lots of photos of CR/B MCSs and I have to admit that they're sharp. I know that CR is the most popular color, but I think that the CR/W is the version that most folks take. With the white piping on the bonnet stripes, I think the CR/B is super-sharp.
Can't. Wait.

Ahead of Schedule?
Hello all. I only recently found this discussion board. Until now, I've been tracking my order all the way to Aida all on my own. I was glad to find this thread because you guys have definately found more information that I had.
I'm (im)patiently waiting for my Lightning Blue Cooper Convertible to arrive. I put the order in on October 29th at Northwest MINI in Tacoma.
One bit of data that I haven't seen mentioned yet that I found interesting was that there appear to be 2845 cars in my booking number on Aida (Booking # GBSOU579377A). One of the articles linked to above indicated that Aida can accomodate up to 6700 cars. I wonder if that means there are 2845 MINIs on board. Seems like a lot.
According to the ship tracking site (http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shipposition.phtml?call=SBLI) Aida looks like it may be ahead of schedule. The times listed on the site are GMT times I believe so that would mean that as of 2 hours ago it was passing Virginia. If it can pull into Brunswick, GA within the next 12-20 hours it may be able to get back on it's way before the holiday. I think we'd actually pick up a full day if that scenario plays out.
Also, once Aida moves on to the second leg of the journy, the next interesting pics will come from the live cameras at the Panama Canal. Does anybody know how/where/what to be watching for when that happens?

Throw up the Tharkun alert! (He generally has helped folks with this stage of shipment tracking.) Without me doing any searches, I recall him mentioning that during the winter, WW pads their schedules by a day or two, so us being ahead of the game isn't a complete surprise.
You'll have to do a forum search with his name and maybe "live camera" or "panama" to get the sequence of shots available while making the passage to the Pacific. IIRC there are three or four spots where you can catch a glimpse of your boat heading through.
Welcome to the AIDA watch!

Oh, and the AIS link for the SE Atlantic:
http://aisfree.aislive.com/Influx.as...ast%20Overview (will need a free registration, IIRC)
I don't see the AIDA, and I don't think the AIS system has the Brunswick, GA harbor approaches listed (but I'd be happy to be proven wrong).

According to the voyage details (voyage ED745-ADA) on the WW web site AIDA arrived and left Brunswick, GA yesterday and is scheduled to arrive in Panama around Monday. I found the Panama Canal page and we'll just have to watch for AIDA on the page since we don't know exactly what time it'll arive.
I wonder if any cars were dropped of in GA during the stop or if it was just for refueling. I know the MINI distribution center is in CA, but I believe there were at most 2845 MINIs on board. That leaves close to 4000 other cars on board assuming the boat is fully loaded.

Here is a map of the panama canal on Wikipedia. Based on the map, it appears that AIDA will enter the Gutan Locks first, then pass under the Centennial bridge, and finally exit through the Miraflores Locks.
The voyage details list Manzanillo, Panama as a stop on the trip. I believe that's referring to Manzanillo International Terminal which is actually found in Colon, Panama which is on the north end (the Atlantic end) of the canal.
As long as AIDA hasn't been repainted recently, it should be easy to spot the big green and white boat with "Wallenias Wilhemlsen" on the side (as seen in the first posting) as it comes into view in the live pictures.

Great info! I believe there were only 285 MINIs on board the Aida (that's how many I see when I enter our booking number), which means the ship was filled with lots of other types of vehicles. That's probably what they ejected in Georgia.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

I don't think I'll be able to play the refresh the web cam game today, but we're not far out from the Panama Canal! If anyone else catches some photos, please post and share them.

One last chance for Tharkun to show up...

I had to zoom in once to see it from your link. Here's the url for where I had to look: http://aisfree.aislive.com/Influx.as...l%20Anchorages
I think that might meen that it's made progress since you looked last. On the Panama live cam it's night now. I'm not sure if they run at night (I would guess yes, but I don't know). I peaked a couple of times today at the cams and didn't see AIDA.

Hee hee! Guess who was going through the Gatun Locks when I fired up the PC this morning?

I'm off to work now, so no tracking progress through the rest of the locks.
