Oh man I hope it's 3-5 days -- Ask MINI told me 1 to 1.5 weeks to load the ship, which means I'd have to wait for the 11/12 boat! I need to get on the Fidelio on 11/4!!!!!!!!! I'm going to call again today and ask someone else.

:impatient :impatient :impatient OK Marg, call and I'll call and maybe Wolfsheim can call to.We have to get on that boat, I can't do this another week. I've been trying to get on that WW site and it's not working. I did see that the Fidelio isn't due in Cali til the 26th not the 25th. What's another day when it feels like you've been waiting an eternity.

My neurosis is in high gear!:impatient I check the WW site about five times a day (as if it will magically speed up the process!) to see if my MINI is booked for 11/4. I've also called the automated system a a couple times in the last few days to hear our automated friend say, "Your vehicle has been released to the carrier and is awaiting transport to the port of exit." I'll probably end up calling to talk with a live person today.

We're all gonna lose our mind

I'm doing all the same things just in different order depending on what time of day.I saw a thread that said it doesn't show up on WW til 2 days before the boat leaves. I've been trying to track Fidelio to see when it hits Southhampton but I keep getting interrupted by my job. I guess it would take about 2-3 days to load something that huge so my WW "real" check date is Thursday and Friday. Of course I checked today just to memorize my VIN. How pathetic amI?

Thanks for the link. Turns out I am not part of the Integrity bunch after all.

More surprisingly, it says my car was loaded onto the "Toronto" on the 24th, only one day after it was produced. I thought that process took more time.

Not that I'm complaining.

It's because BMW (and by extension, MINI) only has Vehicle Distribution Centers (VDC's) in NY and Charleston. They inspect the cars to make sure they didn't get damaged, remove anything that protected the cars during shipping, and so forth. Basic quality controls. They also install a few items there, like the JCW Aero kit.

After that, they ship 'em wherever in the USA they need to go.

I kinda wish they had a VDC in Baltimore too.

Edit: I ought to clarify; there is also a VDC in California. When I said, "only had VDC's in NY and Charleston", I should have specified I was talking about the East coast's options, not nationwide.

FIDELIO

PRODUCTION WEEK 43
Looked up the Fidelio info. It arrives in Southhamptom on the 4th and leaves the same day. I'm imagining that at least by Friday our VIN#'s should be trackable(is that even a word? who cares?). Anyway Im gonna try to find a live person at WW to amuse myself tomorrow and I'll keep you guys posted. Ordered my vanity plates R(hand symbol)6GKRT. It took my mind off the situation on hand for about 15 minutes. Maybe I'll order a short atennae tomorrow to pass the day.

You'll have to report back if you find out any information from WW. I keep telling myself that I will calm down after it's loaded on a ship and making it's way state-side...but I'm probably just kidding myself. Who knows, maybe I'll try to contact the ship's captain!

Go through this page and enter in the relevant information. It will give you a list of the ships to the East Coast.

From what I've read in other NAM postings and not from personal experience, that question is a lot like asking about the meaning of life. That is, assuming the ship docks and they get the MINIs off and to the VDC in a day, then the shortest time through the VDC is about 2 days (but may be as long as a week or even two!). After it clears the VDC, it's placed on an OTR truck to the dealer, which takes as long as 1 to 3 days (again, maybe longer depending on the distance between the VDC and dealer). Then, once the dealer takes possession, they might take a day or two to "prep" it for customer delivery.

To summarize, I think the best case scenario is about four days, while the worst case scenario is three weeks! Assuming it speeds through the VDC in a few days because of no shipping damage or VDC add-on options, I think the average time would be a week to 10 days.

THE WW update

Not on the WW tracker yet. Tried to call Southhampton but realized they must be closed. Sent an e-mail and gave my VIN to see if it's scheduled for the Fidelio. Maybe they'll be nice and send a reply. Ordered my 2" short and stubby antennae for amusement. Another day. Wolfsheim I'm not buying that whole "calm down" thing after it's on the boat.

I met up with my MA yesterday and she said since the Faust was scheduled to arrive to the NJ port on 11/8 then I would be able to pick up my Mini sometime from 11/9-11/11.

You should also ask your MA to make sure your Mini is prioritized for delivery. My MA explained that the priority type (4, 3, 2, or 1) will affect when your Mini leaves the DC for the dealership. If I'm not mistaken, 4 is the highest priority. Check with your MA just to be sure.

Spoke to Chris at MINI Southbay he says pre-ordered MINIs like ours usually get priority "1" because they already have buyers. This means they go to the port with that status and have priority over those MINIs that are just for dealership inventory. Whether it's "4" or "1" at least we know the special ones go to the front of the line hopefully.
Called the WW and spoke to a live person who told me to call between 9 and 5 UK time. Will do that tomorrow along with using the cargo tracker. Keep your fingers crossed Production week 43.
