Finally!

Yikes..it took a day and a half for me to get posting privilages! Anyway..I'm new to mini's. I've had an appreciation for them since I saw (of course) The Italian Job. I've been a big BMW guy my entire life, but being a college sophomore it's hard to land a decent one.

Here's my..situation I guess. I'm going to finish my internship about two weeks into february, and I probably will have over 3,000 saved. I have a friend of the family who can get into car auctions. I'm looking to see if anyone has any knowledge of how much mini's generally cost at an auction. Specific question.. I know. I'd really like to get my hands on an S model but I understand my hopes are high.

Can anyone help?!

So the first important question is, were you inspired by the original The Italian Job or the remake? It'll give us an idea which era of Mini/MINI was your inspiration.

I agree with MINIxB...I would lean towards finding a good, used MINI through an individual seller or organization where you could establish some credibility as to the vehicle's history and condition. I think some auctions tend to be a crap shoot -- who knows where some of those cars originated from? (e.g., you don't want to unwittingly end up with a post-Katrina MINI from New Orleans...)

It was the 2003 remake that caught my attention to mini's. I still have yet to see the original and it's on my blockbuster queue.

You now have MINI fever. You won't be satified until you get one. Now, look around carefully, and do not rush yourself. Check the history reports on all prospects, and it wouldn't hurt to have an outside party, who possibly knows about these cars, to look at it with you. Hope all turns out well in your search. Look hard enough, and you'll find her. good luck.
