It's interesting that your OL even says a dealer delivery is scheduled. Mine just says it's at the VDC despite the dealer's paperwork showing it's supposed to be there Friday. From what we've been told the OL is often way behind, but yours at least seems to be somewhat in sync.

Yeah- mine didn't update until the car had already arrived. Aren't these last few days the worst!?

I'm thinking about your last post corgwn, and now I'm glad I didn't try for any dealer added options! One less day to wait!

One day?!? Pfft! I think they're putting us off as long as possible "well, you know, these iPod interfaces are pretty involved... and the Rallye lights!" blah, blah.
So anyway, now my salesman (vs "MA") says it "may" arrive today (Tuesday)- but even if it does, absolutely everything else would have to fall in place for us to have it by the weekend!!

He said they'll need it "3-4 days"!
WTH? Okay... a PDI takes, what, 3-4 hrs at the most... okay add a wash... Ummm... Nope, I'm at a loss as to what else could take the remaining 3 days...

Gee, Corgwn, sorry to hear you're getting delayed. :( I've totally given up on this weekend and so has my MA. I don't know why they seem to want the car longer but I'm sure the options have something to do with it. Also that particular dealership has shorter hours than a lot of others and the service department is closed on the weekends. Maybe that's also part of the issue.

Are you going to take the train down to PDX, it is a nice scenic trip, if not at night.

Yup. I like riding trains, so it should be fun. My MA is going to come pick me up; apparently the dealership is only something like 10 minutes away.

Yeah, 10 minutes is about right.
So you're getting a few dealer-installed options as well, pigwidgin? (There's so many fun things, it's an exercise in self-restraint!)

Yeah, but not too many options. The chrome exhaust tips, iPod adapter (but I thought that was done at the VDC?), roof rack (which we should probably just do ourselves but I'm being lazy). Probably take the roof rack off before leaving the dealership for the cool factor. Or perhaps I could drag our tandem bike down and put it on top of the Mini. Bet that'd get their eyeballs bulging! Guess I'll save that adventure for another day...

Greetings fellow Northwesterners! I have been lurking for the past 8 weeks while waiting for my wife's MCSa to be built, shipped and trucked up to Portland. I went through the same waiting game last year for my BMW so I know the drill. I need to tell the nice folks at Rasmussen that they REALLY need to put some pressure on BMW to add some visibility to the VDC-to-dealer status. It is pretty lame that I can monitor a vehicle's status from the factory to the shipping terminal, on the ship (through the Panama canal with help from helpful people like Tharkun) and then off the ship only to disappear from any sort of tracking when it has traveled 95% of the way to Portland!!! For my BMW I think it was like 2 weeks for my vehicle to arrive here (from the VDC) and no one seemed to know exactly where my car was at any given time. Then, I agree with other posters who believe dealers should be able to turn a new car in a day. Two at most. The benchmark for vehicle prep should be the East coast where it seems people are taking delivery of their vehicles 4 weeks after they place their orders. Dealers on the West coast can't do anything about things like the Panama canal, but they sure should be able to do something about turning the vehicles quickly once they arrive (IMHO).

OL says my wife's mini has arrived at the dealer, but I haven't heard from our MA yet, so I am guessing it arrived late today. We are hoping to take delivery on Friday or Saturday.

Our specs: MCSa, Pepper White w/Black roof and mirrors, Bonnet stripes, Premium, Sport pkg and suspension, Convenience, Cold weather packages

Welcome, vicportland! Nice to have another PNW'er chime in. I bet if your wife's Mini arrived yesterday you should be able to get it Sat at the latest. I never have understood totally (beyond the Panama Canal and extra voyage time) why the east coast seems to get their cars way faster. Is it that there is more of a demand on the West coast and therefore a longer wait? Never have really searched the threads for a discussion of this. Been spending all my free time tracking Pigwidgin.

Welcome Vic!
Indeed, it is really pretty ridiculous that we can track a car from a foreign country, across 2 oceans, see pix thru a canal in yet another foreign country, but as soon as it hits good ol' American soil, it's in a black hole!
Ludicrous actually.

I don't know about fast PDI/etc-to-customer time being an East coast thing -although it may be for MINI. I know my Subaru arrived in Vancouver WA on a Thursday, I was able to "preview" it Friday night after dealer prep/PDI, and I was able to test drive it and buy it Saturday morning.
Admittedly, there were no options to install, but this was a big deal- a brand new hi-perf model that the dealer had never even seen and they still had no problem running it thru the process asap.
So, really for this to take 3-4-5 days *after* hitting the dealer? Absurd.

Hey Vic! Welcome to the party!

The east coast does seem to have a higher concentration of MINI dealers, maybe it just has something to do with a consistent but higher volume of cars coming through? All wild speculation of course... Not much to be done now.

In my case it was accurate to within 1 day. In OL, Click on "Review Order Detail" and it should come up with an estimated delivery date.

The last few days are the longest!

Great news, corgwin! Did you car arrive at the dealer today? My MA was saying that mine is supposed to arrive 11/2, but now the OL is saying 11/1. I sure would like to pick it up this Saturday.... Don't know if that will happen or not.

Well... he left a message, so I'm not sure when it showed up at Raz.
However ..!! Our OL said delivery was tomorrow (as in 11/1)- so maybe yours is already here as well!?
Call up your salesman/MA and bug him! (or her) I wouldn't rely on the OL much -ours said 10/29 5 days ago and 11/1 two days ago, but I believe it showed up on 10/30. (split the difference mebbe? )

My guy was telling me his paperwork has been showing 11/2 as when it would show up and yours seems to have been always a couple 2-3 days ahead of mine. I'm actually sort of surprised they didn't come up on the same truck. I'll definitely talk to my MA tomorrow. I just bought a stupid train ticket for the following Sat. But I'll gladly eat it if I can get the car this weekend!

BUSY

Congrats to all that have scheduled delivery dates, and to those that are still waiting, hope you Minis arrive soon as well.
Look like the long wait for the Spyder may end this week. I'll be at my dealer at 11:30 am tomorrow awaiting for the truck to arrive.
My dealer is very understanding of being anxious so I was invited over to wait for the truck, get some pics of the 3 Spyders being off
loaded, and then help in the un-crating of our bike.
So may be be more busy than usual, but will try and check in for news of deliveries.

So Tharkun, is that the Can-Am Spyder you're talking about? If so, that's one wild looking ride!
