We waffled on this a bit, as well, but came to the conclusion that we want it as cool as possible, since we often travel with our dogs. It's surprising how warm cars can get, and how fast, even here in the PNW. Our last car, a Legacy GT, had black leather interior, sunroof and dark tint and it got H-O-T. Often too hot to take "the boys".
Those were big factors in us ordering Redwood Lounge (vs black) and why we're getting an opaque sunroof graphic (Welsh flag). And tint, of course. Gotta block out that heat!

Unless you specify otherwise, most of the main roof graphic folks (Aesthetic Creations, Cooper Flags) include a smooth clear layer on top of the perforated vinyl so it doesn't get all dirty and moldy.

Being an animal lover myself, I can see why you decided to go that route. I do conceed that is does hit 90 around here maybe 2 days a year.

So I don't understand why they make perforated with clear layer on top versus solid vinyl. Why would one want one over the other? I'm clueless about this topic.

I don't see her anymore -- does AIS not track Port Hueneme?

AIS for Port Hueneme is strange, at times it does report ships, but lately most of the time the ships do not show.

Solid vinyl RG block the light, the perforated ones allows light transfer,, down side it was not really designed for roof graphics, design was for vertical apps, like you see
on city busses for example.
The perforation allows for collection of dust/dirt, so a clear layer is applied to aid in keeping it cleaner when used on roof graphics..

Also with the perf flags, the colors are not as bold, another of the reasons I wanted Mickey out of the vinyl.

Just checked AIS Live and Figaro does not exist anywhere. That's so weird with all the other ships showing up, one would think the WW ships would too. Huh. I checked the WW site and it still shows Figaro as arriving yesterday but departing tomorrow, not on the 21st. I thought at some point when the arrival date went to the 20th, the departure went to the 21st. Now it says 20th/22nd. So unless I'm not remembering correctly, they gave themselves another day at port.

Thanks for the explanation about the vinyl, Tharkun. Having never applied it to anything, I had zero clue there were two types of it out there.

Kathy

I'm back to just checking when Molly gets discharged from the ship. Then off to delivery! Nothing yet on the ww page, though.

Yep, just as Tharkun correctly stated- the perforated ones allow lots of light thru (like the little screen Mini gives us), but the color is less vibrant than the standard vinyl. I'm not really sure just how much -if any- light the "regular" vinyl will let thru...

Yeah, it's weird- Seattle and Portland are SO alike in so many ways, but we get waaay more hot days -plenty of days in the '90's and usually a few in the 100's (not sure if we had any this year though...). Same amount of "liquid sunshine" though!!

I actually like Portland a lot. Have a couple close friends down there so visit a fair bit. Only thing you guys have that the Seattle area doesn't get much is winter ice. Seems I hear about ice storms a lot where you are.

Go to the cargo tracking page on the ww website -- it's under customer service. Select auto tracking, then input your vin.

Yeah, no kidding. Too bad the VDC doesn't have a support line like the factory does..."getting options installed", "being QC'ed", etc!

Do any of my fellow NW'ers have delivery dates?
My salesman (I hate to call him my "MA", since he's done precious little advising) has waffled a bit and is guessing at a mid-November delivery!?
Doesn't that seem kinda late?

Well, Rasmussen seems to think my car will be up there and ready to be picked up by Sat the 3rd, so I'm guessing it will arrive sometime next week. Mid-November sounds like a long time to me.

Same as pidwidgin- at Rasmussen!
I'm confoosellated...

I guess it's possible that since my VIN is higher (=later) and that our Mini might not be on the same car carrier, but a later one?
My salesman said he "likes to underpromise and overdeliver"...

Corgwn, when I ordered the Mini they originally estimated "late-November, early Dec" but I think that was to, as you said, underpromise and overdeliver. I would be really surprised if the cars don't land there next week. At least I hope so as I just transferred my car to its new owner and I'm carless in Seattle!

Join the crowd - sold my PU in late Aug - wife ask "why did you sell it so eary" Because the Jerk GAVE me what I was asking"? lol. All would not have been too bad but I stopped my order when my Mini was in Panama and re-ordered - will end up being much happier but now my Mini will not be in CA until 11/5 and at my house about a week later - or sooner... Until then I am on the Harley - which is Not bad....
