Music for the inaugural trip...any suggestions?
My inaugural CD contained (I have VERY varied tastes):
1) Heat of the moment - Asia : Paying homage to Hammer & Coop. Just felt right.
2) Lovesong - The Cure : Had to throw some Brit influence in there, and The Cure rocks.
3) The Trooper - Iron Maiden
4) Army of Me - Bjork
5) Beautiful Day- U2
6) Life is a highway - Tom Cochrane
7) The Distance - Cake
8) Rock the Casbah - The Clash
9) In a Big Country - Big Country
10) YYZ - Rush : Neil Peart = God
11) Free Bird - Lynrd Skynrd
12) I Ran - Flock of Seagulls : What can I say, I'm an '80s freak.
13) Runnin' down a dream - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - IMHO, the quintesential "driving fast with the sunroof open and both windows down on a highway" tune.
14) Jupiter - Gustav Holst : I'm a sucker for powerful classical music.
15) Relax - Frankie goes to Hollywood
16) Radar Love - White Lion
17) Jessica - The Allman Brothers Band : Great instrumental
18) Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne : Wife wanted it.
It does have a catchy beat though.
19) Blitzkrieg - Metallica : Back to before they became wusses.
20) Get to the gone - Static-X
21) Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz
22) Faint - Linkin Park
23) Virtual Insanity - Jamiroquai
24) The Needle Lies - Queensryche
25) Just Like Heaven - The Cure
26) Red Barchetta - Rush
27) Rusty Cage - Soundgarden
28) T.N.T - AC/DC
29) 1985 - Bowling for soup
30) Surrender - Cheap Trick

Hey Minisizd... I was about to ask you for a copy of that CD before I realized I think I have one just like it! Great music! Glad to see another Rush fan. Nobody plays the drums like Neil! (Alex and Getty aren't half bad either...) I must admit I've never heard of Gustav Holst (sp?) but now I'll have to check him out since we apparently have the EXACT taste in music. Another great band to listen to while going down the highway with the top down is Supertramp... just thought I'd throw that in.....
@Minisizd
Wow, that is a sweet mix !
I'm mostly stuck in the 80's with my music taste and some of that stuff really makes me wanna put on my cotton jacket and stuff the sleeves up (and head over to Tubbs after I feed my alligator)
May I throw in one more 'must' song (especially with a HK speaker set):
'Great Southern Land' by Icehouse

Here's my must listen list:
Van Halen: "Hot for Teacher"
Rush: "YYZ"
Boston: "Rock and Roll Band"
Those are for the zipping down the road (and letting your MINI purr!) If you have the HK system, I highly recommend The Rippingtons: "Stingray" (if you like Jazz!) crank it up, give it a little extra bass, and enjoy the ride (but watch your speed...I always get a heavy foot when I listen to this song)!

I'll have to check out that track. I'm familiar with the band, but it's been quite some time since I've heard anything by them.
I'm a huge music-lover but happen to love the sound of my MINI with the windows down and the wind rushing over its stylish little body. Find a twisty road, downshift, and push hard on your right foot to enjoy the music your MINI provides with the radio in the OFF position.
How about the Mini chase music from the Bourne Identity...

Great idea. Just saw the Bourne Ultimatum last night, and I was thinking the same thing...the Moby song, Extreme Ways, might be a very good addition to the Mini Mix.
