New military MINI

Well, I tend to browse and read more than post, but I should at least put an intro on here. I'm Cody and I just bought a MY MCS R56. I have had more fun in this car than anything else I've driven hands down. I've had fast cars that would inhale this thing, but nothing else has made me smile like this car.

I haven't seen any mention of military members yet so I'll try here. I'm active duty Army at Fort Campbell, KY. I'm a scout pilot with almost 10 years in now. I have yet to deploy due to being in flight school for most of the war. I'm curious as to how many military MINI owners are out there and hopefully I'll get the opportunity to meet some.

Has-been, broke-down, retired Commando here.. (better to have been a has-been than a never was.. ). Still in the business, only now I don't have to get my boots dusty..

Welcome aboard.. a sincere thanks for your service to a (mostly) grateful nation - and that goes for the rest of you currently serving and those who have served.

De Oppresso Liber!

No harm in being proud of what you do. I certainly won't throw around operational intel and I'm sure nobody else here will either.

This community is much better than the mustang world. They are way too competitive and egotistical.

I guess you have! This is one of those threads that hits on all cylinders! I was a brat, too, and lived in Hanau for a while (KindLotus post). Did a few years on active duty in the navy and retired from the reserves. My son is in OCS in Pensacola and will be ordering his Mini once in flight school. His anguish is whether to wait to see about the JCW 2009 model, or order before and start the mods.

From a gal that likes instant gratification - within reason. Life is short. Buy/order now. Think of the 18 - 24 months worth of fun that he's missing out on right now. JCWs will get here, and they'll need a bit of time to work out the kinks, buy one now, and trade up in 3-4 years.

Interesting... It sounds like you and I were in Hanau around the same time. I was in 3/227 in Fliegerhorst.

Well, well.. well.. Thanks for taking a well intentioned thread and turning it political. Coming from the Big Apple, I can understand why you aren't too thrilled about the POTUS (y'all have a tendency to lean a..ahem... bit to the left up there (I swear, if I live to be a hundred, I'll never understand how y'all put an Arkansas resident in the Senate), so it's understandable. That's what's so great about this nation - EVERYONE has a right to voice his/her opinion.

Spend some time in the south or midwest - you might change your opinion - especially when you realize that all the man's really trying to do is ensure your safety, your kid's safety, and the safety of those who come after us.
