New MCS owner

I am new to the forum and new to the Mini community. I just picked up a 2005 MCS today. It is dark silver with a black roof, leather interior, Sport package, automatic with about 8,000 miles on the clock. I drove it aorund a bit today and it is great! I am looking forward to the Mini experience.

Thanks for the welcome. It is nice to own a car that has such a good enthusiastic following. I never really noticed how many MINIs are on the road until I decided to buy one myself. I have already had a few neighbours come over to ask about the car.

I woke up this morning to warm temperatures, clear blue skies and no yard work. I thought it would be a perfect day to load my 2 young daughters into the car to go for a cruise. Then I looked outside to find that my wife took the car to work. I might have to arm wrestle for the keys so I can have the car tomorrow.

My wife left the radio on (didn't know it stays on without the key) and killed the battery. She phones me in a big panic, so I had to load our kids up and drive 20 minutes to get it going. Needless to say, I was a little hot after, so I took the car to stretch its legs and recharge the battery. What a great car to drive when you are mad! I was grinning from ear-to-ear by the time I got home.

Congrats on your new mini. The radio thing is kind of weird. Mine shuts off with no key in the ignition. I think you can turn it on again once its off (with the key out), but without input it should have a timer that shuts it off after so many minutes to prevent too much draw.

Our other vehicle is a 2005 Dodge Magnum and that was my wife's baby, until yesterday. At least I get to drive that car a little more now.

Welcome aboard. Sounds like you might have to get MINI #2 if the wife keeps taking it - LOL!!

About the radio - it should shut off when the car is off. I would get that checked... Post some pictures..
