Possible hpfp issue?

2009 R55 JCW cold start idle issue - YouTube

Hello all. First time posting here at nam. Unfortunately I've run into an issue with my 2009 jcw clubman nearing 80k miles.
I started it in the morning and it stalled out on me almost immediately. I then recorded the events following that.

Does this seem like a hpfp to anyone else? Or could it be something else. I've had new spark plugs and new coil packs in cylinders 1&4. Had the upgraded intake manilfold replaced at the dealership

Last week I threw a CEL for multiple misfires in cyinders 1&3 when starting up. Then the cel went out and the car ran fine.

I've ordered and scan gauge so I can check the cel's by myself and monitor the fuel pressure

Once you get the codes post them up , for the HPFP there is a bunch of info here:

Your 2009 JCW has the same HPFP as this N14 JCW.

I just got a scangauge to read the codes. Replaced all the coil packs as they were pretty rusted up. It seemed to help marginally. With cold starting. There were no codes that I could read afterwards :/. This stumbling is only an occasional issue so far.

I did set up fuel pressure gauge and key in ignition "on" but not startedit read 54psi.
When started (occasionally only when cold) it stumbled taking nearly 5-6 seconds for the fuel pressure to stabilize near 700-750psi.

I don't know if that helps or how accurate the scangauges are.since I have no readable codes to give that's all I have.

You should be reaching minimum 700 psi right away, my Torque app shows 700+ psi right away.

Don't start throwing parts at your Mini because it's expensive gamble that might not fix your problems. My coils look rusty around the metal body (2+ years) and there fine, a parts appearance means nothing in regards to the health of the part.

700psi right away? I've just started keeping a tab of my fuel psi on starting and occasionally (becoming more frequent as of late) it stumbles and almost stalls out. Taking almost 7-8 seconds to reach 700+psi at the longest.

Yes right away, in those 7-8 seconds does it want to stall? It could either by the HPFP and or the in-tank LPFP pump.

Yup. Actually. Happened this morning (5-25 @ 0500est) as I was trying to go to work. Stalled once completely. Restarted to very rough idle fuel pressure never going above 200psi, misfire codes p0301 & p0303, and if I touched the gas pedal the car would almost stall out.
I fortunately and coincidentally recorded this happening. Will post video when my internet doesn't suck

I heard your video and definitely sounds like one of your pumps is bad, depending on where you take it, the proper procedure is to measure both pumps separately to find out which pump is below spec.

Thanks for your input. It's greatly appreciated. . I'm gonna try and get an appt with the dealer and cross my fingers that it's the hpfp so it's covered.

Just got through with the dealer. It was the HPFP covered under warranty.

Did the dealer diagnose the issue with the HPFP free of charge?

Yessir. They said not to worry about the diagnostic fee. They told me everything was covered free of charge.
I told them about my CEL and showed them prior video of my car issue and they did the rest

Excellent news, Mini dealers standard practice is to wave the diagnostic fee if the repair is covered by a warranty.

Thanks for the reply. Local dealer here says I have to pay for diagnostic but if the part is faulty the fee is waived. So I assume this is the same difference.

I have the same problem with my 08 R56. Called the Mechanic (Thomas Dunaway) at Brian Harris Mini in Baton Rouge and he said it is covered under warranty up to 120K miles. I'm just hitting 60K so it will be covered.
