I installed a Pilo Racing cold air intake today on my MCS. It went very smoothly, even with no instructions! I was happy with the quality of the kit and the louder sound of the supercharger as I step on the gas. I posted a couple of photos. The only tools you need are the following:

-T30 torx bit
-slotted screwdriver
-phillips screwdriver




Inspect the filter inside before installing... I found a piece of rubber inside mine!

Nice way to start, my first was the Magnaflow. Beware of the mod bug, there is no cure...

I hear you. I planned on keeping my MCS 99% stock except for the Whalen shift ****. Honest! Now I am looking at a set of performance plug wires (green to match air filter) and a Borla exhaust. Thanks Dan at Pilo for the tip. Did not know instructions were on your website.

 

The intake looks like it's stock. Great installation. I got my Borla from Jeremy 2 weeks ago and it sounds great. Pulley is next.

 

Good job on the install! The pics convinced me, when my MCS arrives it will receive the PILO Intake! :smile:

 

You will enjoy it. The install is a snap, and looks great to boot. It will be the last air filter you buy for your MCS.

 

Did your kit come with the recharger (cleaning kit?)

It's a great intake kit at a GREAT price. I've had one for several months and love it.

The only diffrence is that Out Motoring and some others list for under what I have on my site, so you can save a little bit that way.

 

I too just installed the Pilo intake. Very simple to install. A few points that I noticed though. 1. The mounting side of the filter does rub the inner liner of the bonnet, no big deal only slight. 2. There is a gap between the fire wall? and the bottom portion of the original filter housing, the width of the housing and a good 2 inches from the back of the housing to the fire wall. Will seal this off as I beleive that hot air will pass to the intake. 3. Also a small gap (1/4&quot between electronic box and front of Pilo heat shield. 4. the mounting bracket is abit thin for the battery slave connector, I used a small wooden wedge to keep the unit from rattling. Don't like noise coming from my engine compartment 5. When I receive my intake the box was kind of oily..when opened it seems that the bottles inside came in contact with the metal and small holes developed leaking the contents. Other than that a well manufactured product.

I haven't seen the pilo yet, but here's what I would consider if
I encounter the same:

1. I think a little bit of rubbing is okay on the cone as long as
the clamp is tight.
2. To fillup gaps, I would use aluminum duct tape. works best.
Also, this is not a true CAI, so a little bit of heat will not
make that much of difference especially on intercooled motors.
3. Batterymount braket...use some e-tape over the bracket to
give it more meat?
4. Leaking bottle...hummm.. Dan, please use bubble wrap?

The gap by the ECU is normal due to the design of the stock intake. I am not sure what the other gap you are talking about. can you send me a picture so that I can see? I will try to better protect the cleaning kit in the future.

 

Dan, I receive the package, thank you. :smile: Actually it came in yesterday
but I took a day-off thinking it would come in today. Anyway, the
package looks very good. I'll be installing it after work.

1. The cleaner package is in a tight ziplock type bag. no leaks on mine.
2. The stainless steel construction looks very good. I think Im going to
not paint it and use it as is. :smile:

The Pilo intake is installed. Other then the fact that my (+) battery harness
of the car was too short to latch onto the braket of the Pilo, the install was
a true drop-in. Fitment was perfect. I just used some mounting tape on
the (+) black housing and mounted it at the bottom of the Pilo bracket
area. It's very snug and tight.

Performance wise, the throttle input was immediately noticable
where the car felt lighter and responsive. Tone isn't loud at all, just a little
more umph(!) for my Milltek exhaust.

Nice product.

NGK Iridiums
Kingsborn shielded wires (heat resistant ...no hp gain)
JCW front strut bar (trying to prevent Mushrooming and I got a great price!) AND I DO feel a difference!
Looking at CAI's but do not want more noise!
I guess suspension is next
