I am a technician at European Auto in Whitehouse/Tyler, Tx.

I had to change the fuel filter in a couple of MINI's the other day and thought I would take some pics of the process for you guys.

Here we go....

Thank you for the how to, just did it today. My filter looked like it defiantly had never been changed. The o-rings took me forever to get off, slippery little things. Anyways thanks again.

Thanks StreetMod, another maintenance item completed. Yep, my filter had never been changed and was as black as the picture above. I could not tighten the top with the new seal, so used the old one and it was a snap. Also, the seal on the tank would not budge (2003 MCS), so i didn't do anything with it.

For me getting the o-rings off was a breeze. I pinched them with my fingers and used a small screw driver to pry them off.

I second PinesMini - how often do we do this?

Thanks again

Mini says it lasts forever. I did mine at 50 and 100,000 miles. Both times it was black and I only use Shell 93.

Does the this come as a kit? Or do you need to order the o-rings and the filter separately?

My first thought is that you didn't put everything back exactly the way it should. I would take it out again and make sure everything is in correctly. Just my $0.02

Fuel filter change

I want to get my fuel filter changed and have found NAM to be a great site for Mini owners.

For some reason, I am not seeing the photos in the first post.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Gary

Can you do this with a full tank of gas? or does it have to be nearly empty?

If you right-click properties and paste and go to the address, you can usually see x'd out photos, but in this case, I get a page that says:
