Who has H13 HID KIT Installed?

I have an '09 Cooper S with H13 Halogen. I was wondering if anyone has installed a H13 HID Kit. I know that many are not in favor of HID Kits in Halogen Reflector Housing so keep your comments offf this thread. I'm looking for owners with H13 Kits installed specifically.

Thanks.

i have an 8000k kit and 3000k fogs...i love the fogs..i think ill switch the 8000k to 5000k.

i love hids, so much better from halogen. for future plans im trying to retrofit a tsx projector into the stock halogen housing..have 1 extra headlight to experiment with.

I urge you to get a bulb out code eliminator otherwise the hid will constantly flicker, turn off, or you'll get the bulb out code. lol

I'm interested too. I am curious if you have a bixenon kit or a single and how clean is the pattern? The stock halogen pattern is pretty good but a little dim. I traded in an M3 for my 09 JCW which had ZKW projectors and I added a 50W HID H1 retro kit. There were few cars on the road that were brighter so I am spoiled. The projector lens kept glare in check (don't think I ever got flashed). The M3 with the ebay specials outperforms my wifes 05 MCS stock HIDs (probably the 50w vs 35 watt). But the ebay specials warm up slowly, not sure how good they would work as high beams in a bixenon H13 set up, but they were 2 years old. Would love your comments or pics of the pattern in an H13 application.

I just installed mine today. I will take pics and post them. I bought them on ebay so i know they're probably just the typical hid kits from China but as of right now i like them better than my stock halogens. i got both high and low. it was a hassle to put them in because of the bulb out warning but the supplier ended up sending me a whole new kit with resistor for free.

Cool! Let us know about the pattern, is it still pretty even with a flat cutoff or does it change to 2 flashlights? Also when you go to high beam how quick does it warm up. If you could disclose the ebay user name that would be nice too. What color temp did you get also?

Thanks

heres a quick pic I took with my phone it doesnt really do the lights justice. they are much better at night. I will try to get a picture tomorrow night with a better camera. fhey are 6000k. Smoke, I will answer your question about the high beams tomorrow night I didn't pay much attention to them lol.
the ebay sellers name is hidkitsconversionshop claims to ship from canada but my package came from China lol. I doubt these are as good as the stock Xenon package and I am not claiming they are as good or better. however, I do like them much more than my stock halogens and only paid $100. I had a problem with the first kit it didnt have a resistor and got a bulb out code. the guy sent me a new kit right away for free and it was very very simple only the ballast resistor and bulb on each side not many wires at all. If you want to order from him tell him to send you guys the exact one he sent me that works without any issues.
Sorry for the long post haha just wanted to inform you guys. BTW the ebay listing says or best offer so start off with a low offer you never know how cheap you can get it for.

Thanks JCarlos914, sweet ride! We are on the same page. I don't expect them to be better than factory projectors but no way are factories 5 times better than this, so I think we are on the right track. I like the look of 6000k. I had 4300K in my M3 (paid $120 and it was a single H1 bulb so the price is really coming down). 4300K is the brightest but I think I can give a little brightness away this time in trade for some coolness factor. 8000K is stepping over into the Christmas light zone. Don't forget the pattern and describe how the highbeam comes on. Can you flash it or does it take like 10 seconds to brighten up over the low beam?

thanks JCarlos914. was your package just missing something? or did he have to send you extra stuff to fit your mini? i looked up what he had for h13s, is it possible just to buy them without worrying that i'll get send the wrong items?

also, what is your K? Im thinkng about 6000k, but i might go to 8000k. not sure yet.

i got 6000k. I already sent him a message on ebay I told him if anyone with MINI orders the h13 kit that he is supposed to send the second kit he sent me. the first kit did not work but he is aware of the problem. the second kit only had a ballast, bulb, and resistor for each side it was easy to install. only had to cut a little piece from the plastic cover to run the wires under the headlight with the ballast.

As for the high beams they come right on. no need to warm up or anything. When you go to flash they do so right away.

Thanks JCalos914! I have seen enough. I am sold. I had to do the same plastic removal in my M3 because they were sealed up just like these JCW lights in the rear. Is that the stock fog bulb or did you go extra yellow, Lexus style, for better visibility?

Both the fog and the parking lights are Nokya hyper yellow bulbs. they are much nicer than the stock bulbs.

Nice job! Another tempting mod, though, even with my stock bulbs, I think I see well enough at night. As for high beams, i think they just work by a reflector using the same bulb. So what ever new bulb you put in it will work fine. The 1st gen coopers had two seperate bulbs for high/low I think.

h8 fogs?

just curious JCarlos, if you are still around, if these are the right lights (h8).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOKYA...Q5fAccessories

These are dual filament right (35 / 55w)? Is only one filament used?

Just got them in! The box says the Nokya's are 55w, stock is 35W so i guess that is why they are so bright. Tried them in the rain the other night and they look great. I am still waiting for my HID kit. Waiting on the resistor kit. I'll take some pics when I am done.

Jcarlos14 Help! Hope you are still around. It seems you may have one of the few HID conversion set ups that actually work! I ended up going with a different vendor and it doesn't work without a bulbout warning. The bulb quality is really good and the system physically works great but I get a bulbout warning because only one factory H13 conector is plugged into the relay harness, the other is left open so naturally you get a bulbout. After talking to the vendor they have never seen an H13 without a relay harness so they have no idea how to get around the problem. Your system works so I am going to need more pics if possible. Can you remember if you plug the factory headlight plug into the ballast on both sides or into some kind of relay harness? And do both factory h13 plugs get plugged in or is it only one?

Yea I know what you mean my first kit was like that. The second kit had much less wiring. I plan on putting stronger ballasts in this weekend when i take it all apart I'll take pics to show step by step. If I don't do it tomorrow it will be done by Saturday if you don't mind waiting. I'll take a look at it this afternoon to see what plug you are talking about.

The set up I have is basically these connections that connect to the plugs from the bulb. Then there is this connection that goes into the ballast in the picture below.
So that one goes into the ballast and then the ballast has two that plug into the two from the first picture.

Thanks JCarlos I sent this thread to the guy I got them from and I think they figured out what you had. They took my kit back and are going to replace it with what you are using. Thanks for all your help! I am reading a lot of similar threads but no one has as good a luck as you!

One more unrelated question. I really like your color matched headlight bezels. Did you do the tail lights too? How much did that run? I am thinking of doing that and blacking out the belt line.

Yes I also did the tail lights. I actually did it myself with the spray paint from Minspeed when they had the Chili Red in stock it was a perfect match. I wanted to do them over but Minspeed went out of business I think.

I also want to do the belt line I think I'm just going to use Plasti-Dip for that.
