Looking to make my MINI go fast! Ideas?
I have a 2005 Mini cooper s. I don't really have any mods except for Milltek Exhaust. I want to make it quicker than it is, but i am lookin to spend about 1500. Can you guys give me some ideas in what to look for. the upsides and downsides. if you want you can post your specs with upgrades too. Please help!! thanks a lot

I think Mike at Mynes Performance can do a Newman cam, 550cc injectors and a tune for around $1,200.00 including labor. Mike correct me if I'm wrong here.
I'm pretty happy with my tune and parts. My dyno numbers on a heart breaker Mustang dyno were 193.5whp. Although what matters is the delta of about 40.5whp, I would have liked to see over 200whp. Perhaps I should take my car to another kind of dyno. You know the ones that always read high!! Maybe dynojet or dynapac. Over 200whp for sure. Just my .02 cents. Good luck!

Intense is right on with his recommendation. It looks like his pricing is based on doing some of the work yourself.
I have exactly the mods he recommends:
- Webb 15% reduction supercharger pulley
- Megamini (Hubie Fuh) V1 Cam
- Bosch 550cc injectors
- NGK Iridium plugs (heat range 7)
and a Mynes ECU tune on a dyno.
The pulley was $300 installed by Webb at a pulley party.
Everything else was done last weekend at ABF in Lake Forest, CA by Hubie and the Mynes crew for just over $1300.
My baseline (with the pulley) was 184HP (Torque was in the 160's)
Final tweaked values: 206 HP (187 TQ) at the wheels on a conservative Mustang Dyno.
Mynes is out of AZ, so that might be a fairly convenient location. You could probably get them to do the whole deal, including pulley for about the same as I paid. (I think they do a traveller's discount)

PS: To answer your last question: No, you don't have to swap out the ECU. They flash your existing one.

Cool, i have no problem with doing some work myself, like the manual labor, just the programin i would screw up. I want to be atleast 200. That is my goal. I also have some more questions If you all don't mind. I was looking to get a header too, but all I could find was the aota header. Is there anyone out there with a dif. one? And with the 550cc injectors how is the gas mileage on that. And I wish I was closer Arizona dave! I'm all the way in Chicago. And have anyone got there mini detroit tuned??

The 550cc injectors are no problems at all with fuel economy... it's all in the tuned. Most of our customers get better or the same economy with the 550's - (if not all b/c with more power, they get on it more often so the fuel economy goes down :( It's all in the tune
This thread should give you some ideas on mod path... every dyno reads different so pay closer attention to the delta and the overall graphs instead of just peak numbers. The 1st ten posts have pretty much all the info you need.

Personaly I have the RMW header and cam I like it for the midrange.
My car put down 224 on a dynapack with a mild tune,(I needed more injectors)
However, Im very happy with how it runs.
I can easly blitz to 80 without much trouble, Do you need more?
I mean though the mynes crowds dyno reads diffrent than the dynapaks
the real key is the delta between old and new. this is what your going to be feeling not the peak numbers
I encourage you to do some reading as well as keep asking questions
From my experence i would try to spend just a bit more get a header cam and a pulley with a tune to top if off.
Dont forget to hunt thru the NAM marketplace... Its in the upper left of the page for deals.
Hope this helps you some
Colin.

Is that Al Jourgesen on your sig? Seen them a few times, way back in 1989 and 1990.

why yes it is pic is Al, quote is from the song "Let's Go". Haven't seen MINIstry recently, but I attended a few concerts in the past and I have all of their music (including With Sympathy on vinyl). I used to frequent Wax Trax when it was still around.. those were the days

WHAT!!! Wax Trax is gone. OH sad day. Are we talking about the one Denver? The web says they are still around.

I didn't know there was a store in Denver... I thought the label died out years ago .. click the pic of Al to go to his own label (13th Planet)...

up through the late 80's-early 90's (omg ) it was on N. Lincoln Ave. There was a park on that corner where the skin-heads used to hang out that I had to avoid I don't remember Dreamerz... but I used to hang out near Belmont/Clark (the Alley, Restless Records, all of the vinyl stores on Clark near Diversey), especially at Medusa's when it used to be on Sheffield (wasn't 21 yet) and they still played good industrial music. When they closed the N.Lincoln store, it ended up in Wicker Park. But I never went there.
My apologies to Mini05_Baker for the hijack.... as mentioned before, give Waylen a call since he's coming out next month. I talked to him the other day and he's looking forward to the party

OP you can make your mini fast with whoever you choose to get your parts from. If you can install the parts yourself you will save some cash or have one of the great Nam vendors / shops do the job for you.
My Advice is do a lot of reading and searching and research and you will save time and $$$ by learning what other have done and had work or fail. Just try not to get caught up in all the "FanBoy" stuff.
I just wish everyone could learn to play in the same sandbox without kicking sand in eachothers eyes.
Happy Modding and good luck.
