Is this a good deal?

Clubman S, 2800 miles, reasonably loaded (metallic paint, cold weather package, premium package, sport package), a few other extras, $26000. Looks pristine. It is a 2008. I think it may be one of the clubman launch cars.

What do you think?

Is this from a private person? Have you priced out what a new one would cost as this one is specced? (Yes, I know prices have gone up on the '09s)... Are those all the options (I don't know what comes standard on the S, as I've never bought one), and is it a manual transmission?

According to the MINI build site, the "sport package" isn't available on the current S Clubman for '09, so I can't tell what that costs, but with the premium and cold weather plus metallic paint with nothing else - it's $26,600. I'm sure some helpful 08 S owner will chime in soon. If you like the color and these are the options you'd want, then you surely wouldn't have to wait...and could offer them a bit less and see what they say.

private sale

Yes it is a private sale. It would cost a lot more speced, but it is hard to match specs exactly because packages have changes, and the sports package is not currently available.

Sport package never was available on the S to my understanding as the sport package is standard on the S. Am I wrong on this one?

I understand. Feliciadawn. If it's what you like and not missing anything you can't live with out, it sounds good to me. You could still offer a bit less and see if they'd budge. I'm afraid, I am not the right person to answer about price negotiating on buying privately, though I've sold several privately, I've only bought one that way.

I suppose the biggest concern is to feel 100% sure that nothing has ever happened to this car in its short stint of belonging to this seller. If there's no problem there, it sounds good to me - with no wait involved.

sports package

Yes sports package came with original launch version of clubman S -- 17" wheels, sport suspension, bonnet stripes.

This car also has the white turn signals, back fog lights (front come with "s") LSD (not sure if that was part of sport package or not) and Xenon headlights (a necessity for me.) And the windows are tinted aftermarket, and it looks like it has chromeline interior. As I said I think this was one of the prespeced launch cars, so they wanted it to look good.

I forgot to mention it has the leather/cloth seats (which I wanted, or I would also have liked full leather).

Anyway, when I spec the 2009 car I would like, I have to sacrifice on the the sportier features, just to get my mandatory features (part leather, xenons, fog lights) and it still adds up to a few thousand more.

If you like the color, think the options are a good fit for you, and you can't find any issues with the VIN number search, I'd go for it! The wait for a new one is agony, and if you can get what you want for a reasonable price right now, what the heck? It's probably more an issue of the poor guy not being able to make the payments (or not wanting to make the payments) in the current economy than anything really wrong with the car, but do check it out to be sure... And good luck!

Realized I never reported back

I bought the car, and it is perfect. I am sooo glad this car came with the cold weather package, because I did not have that on my spec list, and I adore the heated seats. (we are having a cold spell right now in Phila.)

The only option I wish I had, that didn't come with the car, is the rear fog light. Is there a way to get that as an after-option?

In your post above you said it had the rear fogs, there is only one as you know and there would be an empty space in the lower toggle switches if you don't have them. I have heard it could be done aftermarket with a reprogram and a lens. I believe I heard the wiring is already there.and a switch is needed as well as the switch cover plate

I was just at a dealer and looked at the rear fog light. On the 09 (and likely 08) Clubman, I would not sweat not having it. Look at your back taillight on the driver side. http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com...or/tail-light/

See that clear bit at the bottom? On the passenger side it is the backup light. On the driver side it is the fog light (different lens color). The "build a mini" shows additional lights being added below the bumper, but that is not correct.

Not a whole lot of visibility increase in my opinion. But, hey, we don't get much fog around here.

Hey!! Congratulations on your new clubbie!! Your purchase sounds awesome,, I agree with loving the heated seats,, I have never had a car that heats up clear up to your shoulders like this I see you live near philly, hope to meet you at a phillymini event soon! And for what it is worth, as the other posters have mentioned- you only get one rear fog light- I have it and it really isn't that big of a feature,,,, I wouldn't sweat it...

rear fog light

Thanks for the tips about the rear foglight (Not plural!) The reason I want it is not for fog, but because I can't see a thing when backing up at night. My car came with aftermarket tint on the back windows. This is fabulous for keeping my things in the back safe, and it looks awesome, but I need more light when backing out of my driveway. So I thought if I could hook up the rear foglight, I could turn it one for this situation.

Congrats, sounds like the specs are very close to mine. Except I did not get the sport package and stayed with cloth seats.
Man I love my heated seats now with 1F registered on the display this morning
Enjoy your new car!
cheers,
John

Lightening blue/Silver

It is LB with Silver roof. It right now has lots of union jack items but I am trying to trade these or otherwise purchase checkered items. For example I have rear view mirror caps that I would love to trade for checkered.

My two top colors for the clubman S were LB and CR. I do wish though that there was a shade of yellow for the S clubman.

+1! If the Clubman hadn't had heated seats as an option, I might have had to keep the VW.

In 2008, the prices for the packages were;
Cold Weather $500
Sport Package $1500-higher, depending on the wheels.
Premium Package $1500
Metallic paint $500
Xenon $500
Rear Fog $100
White Turn $100
Tint...around $300
Chrome $250
Leather Cloth $1250

That's $6500 in options right there.
I bet it rolled off the lot for over $30k without taxes.

It looks like you got a great price.

Convenient Access was a must have for me.
With mileage that low, the price seems ok, if you like the color.

New owner, bought slightly used

Hello! I just picked up my new (to me) Mini Clubman S yesterday, Super Bowl Sunday. I bought the car from a dealer (Brown's Mazda in Chantilly, VA) and I think I did okay on it. The car is a Laser Blue with black roof, 3900 miles, Premium Package, Cold Weather Package, Sport Suspension, 6-sp Auto, Blue Tooth, 16" wheels. I got the car for $24,950 and gave them $2k down. I think I did well on the pricing.

I believe this car was also one of the Clubman roll-outs, I hope it wasn't abused too much. I've always had a stick, this is my 1st automatic car in 37 years. But the traffic around the DC area is soooooo bad, that I just couldn't deal with a stick anymore. I felt like my left leg was gonna fall off when I was using my Taurus SHO for commuting.

Anway, I'm glad to find this site and you folks, I hope to be lurking and contributing quite a bit in the years to come!

Best Wishes,

-RW-
