Diamond cut wheels ... how are they holding up?
MINI has had diamond cut wheel options for a while now (roulette spoke, propeller spoke, rail spoke, etc.) ... they look nice, but I hear diamond cut wheels tend to have corrosion issues. If you have some that are a couple years old, how are they holding up (pictures encouraged)? If you were building another mini, would you choose them again, or make a point to avoid them?

All diamond cut wheels have a clear coat / lacquer layer of protection, the issue is apparently with rock chips, road salt, curbing, etc., moisture can get under that layer and spread corrosion. And with the protective layer being transparent, it can look a lot worse than if it were paint. There's a lot of scary pictures online, but I don't know if they're an accurate reflection of typical real-world wear.
My ‘23 F60 has wheels like this, but of course I’ve only had it for a couple months. I did ceramic coats the wheels, though, so I’m sure that will help overall. I had another car with wheels like this a long time ago and never had any issues with the clear coat. And that was before I had a garage (and we get snow and they salt the roads). I think it really all comes down to how often you clean the wheels. Regular maintenance is key, I would assume.
