8.5 or 9.0 width wheels?

I currently have a 17x8 +35 (front and rear) wheel setup and am looking to go a little more aggressive. I'd like to run an 18x8.5 or 18x9.0 setup. Anyone here running either size? The offset would stay +35, or maybe bump it up to a +40.

The most aggressive offset I'm looking at is going no more than a +30. But I know I'd probably need to bump the width down by a half inch or so.

I'm also maybe considering a 19x8 (8.5 or 9.0 even).

If anyone is currently running ANY of these setups, your opinion and pics of your setup would be greatly appreciated.

I have been looking at this question for a couple minutes trying to figure out a couple of things. First off did you plan on getting a wider tire because a 215 on a 8 inch wheel is max from manufacturer and I'm sure yours looks just like mine and it is already pulling the sidewalls out a bit. Not saying you cant run wider but you start to get a very noticeable stretched sidewall. If you go to a 225 then it's a little taller but not bad and then with being taller and wider you will be prone to rub more easier. I don't have 3rd gen mini but seems like I have seen pictures of 8 inch wide 35 offset wheels and the are to the edge of fenders. Is this how yours sit? If so adding more width to you rim and keeping the offset the same will make them stick out more. You need to add offset 35 to 45 or more to get the wheel farther in and not stick out. Or I'm guessing they will rub. The 3rd gen cars had factory 17x7 wheels with more offset then 2nd gen so I would guess you could go wider with the right offset and not rub or stick out.

I just checked out the official r56 wheel fitment thread and after on looking at a few posts looks like people are using a 225 40 18 wheel and tire and on wider then 8's . If they can get that to fit then you should be able to get a wider 17 with 225's to fit. Hope this link works.

This is the best wheel size calculator I've found:

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/

Once you crawl around the car and measure your existing set-up, it will easily calculate the differences to a new set up.

My current setup is "poke" fitment. I like a little poke, as it gives a more aggressive look to the car. I've looked at all sorts of wheels over the last few weeks, and most wheels with a more aggressive offset do not come in a 7-8" width wheel. At least not the ones I actually like and would put on my car. I've seen some F56 Coopers when Googling pics that have some very aggressive stances (wider wheels/offsets), but there is a lack of information on what setup they're running because the pics are usually uploaded to Pintrest or some other same type of site. Im super hesitant to do +45 or close to that offset because I dont want the wheels tucked too much, if any, at least not on a narrower wheel.

I run 18x8.5 ET42 with a 5mm spacer to clear my JCW brakes, so effective offset is +37. Wrapped in 225/40/18. Definitely have some poke - it's an agressive stance but not overkill in my opinion. I had slight rubbing on my coilovers prior to the spacers but nothing that I ever felt. Just some black smudges, but no damage to inner wheel lip or sidewall. I get some fender arch rub on dips/bumps but it's pretty liveable although I am looking into camber plates and LCAs to try and resolve that. Check out my IG in my signature for some ideas of fitment. I've shared pics elsewhere around the forum as well. LMK if you have any other questions.
