WTB: Winter Wheels + Tires!
WTB: Winter Wheels + Tires!
Going on a trip into the snowy depths of wisconsin next week, hoping to take the MCS!
Not looking for anything special- the wheels can look like garbage as long as they drive straight, aren't cracked, and the tires have a few seasons left. My budget isn't huge, which is why I'm looking for used.
Want to buy the wheels + tires together.
Local would be great (i'm in the north chicago 'burbs), but shipping is an option.
I've checked ebay + craigslist without much luck... Help a lady out
Thanks classy ladies and admirable gents!

Have you tried Tirerack? They have steelies and winter tires for a pretty decent price.

I'm not sure the link will work, but you can go to Tirerack.com.
Brand new winter tires and steelies for around $384.

I too purchased 4 Bridgestone Blizzak tires, mounted to 4 black steel rims from the Tire Rack.
This is my third winter on them, and I cannot recommend them enough for winter traction. I save money each spring and fall by doing the labor of wheel changes by myself, and I also don't have to expose my expensive summer wheels and tires to the corrosive salt they use on the roads to melt the snow here.
Like I said, I cannot recommend this option enough!

Also check VWVortex.com for a set of 15 or 16" wheels in their classifieds, 4x100 forum. You can then get cheapie 15" snow tires from PepBoys or Costco (or Tire Rack) and have alloys instead of steelies.
That sub-$400 option from TireRack is a good one though...
