According to MotoringFile MTTS will be on for 2012. No dates announced but it looks like the event will be similar to the first MTTS in 2006, which was one big cross country route. Yippie!!

Here’s a bold New Year’s resolution: attend the biggest MINI road rally in America. It’s called MINI TAKES THE STATES and it’s back again in 2012.
More details will be available in late January. We are gearing up for another one of our epic cross-country road rallies.

My thoughts on this are using what has happened in the past as a guideline,
the safe assumption would be the month of August. At least the start date.
It could run into the first week of September, as 2006 did,
but I'm guessing most of August just like 2010.

So far all the MTTS events have started in August.

I did all of MTTS 2010, the west coast version, and will not miss this one.

Will a route map and information on the stops so a person can make motel reservations at the overnight points be available?

 

Yes, MINI will make that info available so you can schedule hotels in advance. They have 'recommended' or 'official' hotels, also, but it's possible to save money staying elsewhere in the area.

 

i went in 2010. cant wait for this year.

Oh well, I assumed late August into September.
Looks like I'll have to change some of my other plans.

"MINI has gotten in touch with us about MTTS and it looks like the trip will not be ending in Chicago as previously sourced. What we do know is that the cross-country trip will kick off on July 4 and the route will run east to west through cities as yet unannounced."

 

This is correct. I know where it starts but promised not to tell.

Since I live in San Francisco area it might be a very short drive for me :-)

 

dang...well that kind of blows having the route be only one way...less expensive for us on the west coast i suppose.

 

Well it looks as if it I'll be heading east, New York state I hope,
so that I can do MTTS going West.

Now wouldn't it be a giggle if they did the 2012 MTTS the reverse of 2006,
with parade laps at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, just like in 2006 and 2010.

Any one care to speculate?

Has anyone heard from MTTS 2012? I need to put in vacation requests in soon if the event happens in July!!! Really, would like to go, my son and I had a great time in 2008 in Wisconsin at Road America. Hope to join in the activities if the info comes out timely.

Biggest problem I am facing is whether to do this or MINI United...

 

Biggest problem I'm facing is lack of money and vacation time to do MTTS.

 

If the Autocross is going to be like the ones during MTTS in the past, you drive one of the cars MINI provides. Might be an opportunity to drive the new Coupe.
