Need cheap and light 15" that fit Works Brakes

I want some cheap and lightweight 15" wheels that will work with JCW Brakes and some racing tires to use for autocrossing. There are some old posts that show 15 inchers over JCW Brakes. Are any still available? I'd prefer to have them in white, but it doesn't really matter that much.

Any ideas?

There were several at TireRack that would fit, but the only one I recall at the moment is Kosei K1 TS. Check with Alex for other choices.

No OEM 15" wheels fit, but there are 5 or 6 aftermarket 15" wheels that fit JCW.

Those come to mind as light 15's that clear JCW's with NO spacer.

Thanks! The Kosei K1 TS link doesn't work. How about some autocross tires? Not for street use at all, just install them at the track....

At tirerack I don't see SSR type C RS in 15" size, only 17x7.5"

SSR Type C
15x6" only, $297 each (not too affordable/cheap), 8.8 pounds each

I think I remember reading something about Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 wheels having good brake clearance. I cannot back this up, however. Ignorance aside, they are 15x7" 14.1lb $133 12-spoke cast wheel. They also come in silver, anthracite and black.

If you want OEM 15" wheels, the 15" '07 R56 wheels will clear.

Will 07 MC 15" wheels fit a 07 MCS?

If the 07 MC 15" wheels fit JCW brakes will they fit on an 07 MCS? Alex at Tire Rack advised me to look up 15" wheels for my 07 MCS by plugging in a JCW R53 with a built date when the switch was made to the larger bolts. Therefore I would assume that 15" 07 MC wheels will fit an 07 MCS? But then again this could be a bit like the witch scene in Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail. You know - a duck floats and wood floats so therefore if she weighs as much as a duck she must be a witch .....

Thanks,

Mark

The front discs are NOT the same on the R56 MCS and MC (294x22 versus 280x22), so R56 15" wheels won't fit over JCW brakes.

I hope this gets sorted out by next winter. My plan for my 2007 S was to get some cheap steel 15" wheels with snow tires mounted on them so I could swap back and forth. I'll be paying attention to see if any options emerge.

Oops, my mistake. I was under the impression that all of the R56s had the JCW brakes. Maybe it's just the "S" that has them. The rotors on the R56 Coopers look like the same parts, though.

I'm still confused- will the 15x7 Kosei K1 TS (or any other light aftermarket 15" wheel) fit over the 2007 MCS front brakes w/o spacers?

I want those 225 RA1s and Hoosiers for my track wheels if possible

Thanks for any help

I was tentatively told that the Motegis should fit, but this is still unsubstantiated info based on 06 JCW fitment. I would love to know for sure, as they would make for a killer track setup.

When I plug in 2007 MCS at tirerack.com I don't get any 15" wheel options so I don't think it will fit or at least tirerack's check on fitment doesn't suggest that it will fit.

When I plug in 2007 MCS with JCW kit I only get 17" wheels or larger.

For 2007 MCS tirerack has Motegi's in
Motegi Racing DV5 17x7 for $153 to 194 (chrome plated) each
Motegi Track Traklite in 16x6.5 ($306), 16x7 ($315), 17x7 ($280)
Motegi Track Touge 18x7.5 $225 to $270 (chrome plated) each

The TireRack website normally will not list wheels smaller than stock, even if they fit. Alex described a trick to getting it to list 15" wheels for MCS. You do it by shopping for winter wheels.

For vehicle select: Mini, 2006, Cooper S John Cooper Works, built after May 2006. Click on Shop for a Winter Tire & Wheel Package. Select 15" packages.

You should end up at this page:
http://www.tirerack.com/snow/WinterT...&performance=W
Now click on the link "Don't need tires? Skip to wheels".

The results list these 15x7 wheels (each has a variety of finishes/colors):
Kosei K1 TS
OZ Chrono HT
OZ Ultraleggera
Motegi Traklite
Motegi Traklite 2.0

Sorry to stay OT, but will these wheels then also fit a 2007 R56 MCS?

I had read the brakes are the same size as the JCW but was not sure.

I need to buy track wheels and the options for tires (Hoosier, Nitto, Toyo...) are so much better for the 15" size wheel (eg. 225/45/15).

Yes this short list of 15" rims at tirerack.com will fit any R56 MC or MCS and any 2006 MCS with JCW front brakes.

Thanks!

It looks like Motegi Traklite 2.0s with 225/50/15 R-compounds should be a great track set-up.

Just another point of reference- I have test fitted my 15's on a 2007 MCS R56- 15x7 Kosei K1 Racing does clear the front brakes (not by much...). I know those wheels do come up used from time to time with reasonable prices.
