RH Evolution wheels?
Anyone running RH Evolution wheels (17x7et42, forged, 12.3 lbs)? Saw them on the RSpeed site. Despite the nomenclature, these are apparently _not_ by Racing Hart.
If experienced, any comments on potential use as street wheels? TIA!

Call RSpeed and ask them if they are by Racing Hart. I thought they were.
Several MCO members have posted that they talked to various wheelshops and the word is that although these wheels are really light, you stand to have trouble using them as daily drivers. Durability may be an issue and a bent rim would be pretty sickening if it happened. If you live in a place with really smooth roads then it might workout OK.
Personally I looked at a lot of wheelsets in 16" and 17" and lightness is not everything because if they cannot stand up to even a little trouble then you will be replacing them in due time and at a large cost. The analogy for me is when I ride my bicycle with light racing rims that are great for acceleration but I also get tons of dents (depends on the road conditions) and I then do lots of spoke readjusting so that I can keep using the rims. maintenance may be considerable.
On the lightweight by strong 16" side many people are waiting on Tirerack to get instock the SSR comp R which is similar to the SSR Comp rims. Difference is that the Comp R is 16x6.5 size which may weight as little as 11 pounds or a bit under with et of about 45 to 48 (not yet determined). No machined lip and no centercap I think. Rough cost about the same or a little less than SSR comp now. Been waiting a long time. Best part is although these are very light they will do well for an 11 pound rim for daily use as long as you are careful. Large potholes taken on at speed will dent anything- even steel rims.
As for 17" I am going with Team Dynamics Pro Racer 1 17x7 et45 at about 16 pounds per rim but strong and OK for daily driving and some track or driving school use. they are on backorder- supply is low.

Greetings!
I did a lot of online research on the Racing Hart (RH) EVO (Evolution) wheels and I am also considering the CP-8R wheels. I found the best price at
http://www.racerwheel.com They are lightweight wheels, but they are forged and much stronger than cast wheels! I definitely think they are worth a look!
Best Regards,
Ron

RH Evolution and Racing Hart are both under the umbrella of Dazz Motorsports.
Another place that has good prices on the CP8R (under $1200) is
Import-store.com

I'm still not clear on the Racing Hart / RH Evolution relationship...but I'd like to be.
I asked myself the same question a few times when I was researching wheels about eight months ago and could only get unequivocally positive answers (opinions?) from other consumers (generally folks who'd already bought some RH Evos) and a few RH Evo distributors. On the other side of the issue were a few other distributors and the folks at Wheelspecs.com who claimed the two names belonged to two separate companies.
I know you can find both listed at Dazz, but Dazz only claims to be an "aftermarket distribution specialist" - their company info still doesn't give me the impression that they own the company (or companies) or the two names. They also list Hartge, and I don't think that means Hartge is a Dazz company or brand or related in some way to Racing Hart....or does it? Trust me, I'm not being a smart a$$, I'm asking because I really don't know.
In the end I'm not sure it matters, especially if they're all quality products. On the other hand, if RH Evolutions are actually lower quality wheels and the name is meant to intentionally mislead, I'd sure like to know about it. Maybe one of our MCO sponsors/vendors has all the answers and would like to enlighten us....

I have a set of RH C2 Evo's sitting in my garage that I took off my Acura CL-S. They are not the same as Racing Hart Wheels. Manufactured by different company but distributed by the same company, (Dazz Motorsport). Mine have been very reliable and I have had no problems with them at all. They're for sale if you know of anyone that needs a 19x 7.5 with a +44 offset and 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern.

Just to clarify things to several of you:
1) Dazz is just a distributor for wheels - in this case, Racing Hart and RH Evolution, etc. They do not make these wheels nor are they affililated with RH.
2) I do not know where people get information at times, but to suggest to someone that "the word is that although these wheels are really light, you stand to have trouble using them as daily drivers. Durability may be an issue and a bent rim would be pretty sickening if it happened. If you live in a place with really smooth roads then it might workout OK.."
These wheels (RH Evolutions) are forged and probably one of the strongest wheels in their class. What you really need to understand is that any time you slap a 45, 40, 35 or even 30 series tire on *ANY* wheel - you stand the chance to bend them. To suggest that these wheels pose any troublke as daily drivers is just wrong. We have been using ours for over 8 months with no issues. And to make my other point a bit clear - I just bent one of my OEM MINI 15" 7 holed wheels last night - why? Because I hit a pot hole. Even the smallest rims stand the chance of getting bent due to any kind of impact.
3) RH Evolution and Racing Hart are in fact two different companies - where i made the error in telling HARMINI that there were the same - so I am wrong here. But I can tell you that this in no way is reflected in the quality and the durability in the forging process in the RH Evolution wheels. These wheels by far are stronger than anything else we carry and they are light. Lighter weighted wheels makes a HUGE difference especiually if you have those 17" S-Lites which last time we measured, came out to be 47lbs each - compared 33lbs a corner with the CP8R's and tires.
4) RH Evolution wheels are not made to mislead people - it is purely based on speculation and what one particular web site posted. If any of you have been involved with wheel sales, you will know that RH Evo's are very high quality and have their own brand name - I had to do some research on these, but was quite impressed with the manufacturing process on these wheels as they are distributed by RH direct and RH stands by these wheels.
The point is this - everyone wants light weight rims for the least amount of money. I too years ago made a huge mistake by ordering from a company out west that had these TSW wheels for the best price. What happened to me was that I got a damaged rim - and did not read the return policies for ordering wheels from the company. The old saying also goes "you get what you pay for" - especially in wheels. We have seen some pretty inexpensive wheels that a) do not balance right, b) have inconsistiances in the paint, c) missing hardware, d) don't hold air when the tire is on, etc.
So take what you read online with a grain of salt - always learn about return policies before you order for the "best price online" and make sure - by all means - that all your hardware comes with your wheel package. Sometimes it is in the small print and you are left out to dry with no hardware, lug nuts, or hub rings.

Thanks for clearing some things up Peter. We all want quality, but none of us minds getting it at a good price. I'm personally willing to pay a bit more if I have to just for the peace of mind I get from dealing with a reputable firm...the good news there are a few companies like RSpeed that are not only top-notch but have good prices as well!
As to the Racing Hart / RH Evo biz, the truth is there are a LOT of people with the impression that Evos are another line made by Racing Hart. There has to be a REASON for that confusion and I'm sure it's not just the similar names. The fact is there ARE other distributors who play off the similarities and intentionally market RH Evolution wheels as Racing Hart wheels.
But the company called RH Evolution isn't trying to mislead anyone - that's great news. Incidentally I've heard great things about those CP8Rs - not my cup of tea aesthetically, but still apparently high quality, forged wheels. If you can get quality wheels from RH Evolution, it doesn't actually matter that they're not made by Racing Hart...but it would be nice (and less confusing) if folks would stop perpetuating the "same company" myth.
