This is a BBS thread and not a BBS Rep thread and I think you'll find most of the wheels here are the real McCoy

How much do the weigh? I bet they're heavy

Even my little 16" RS's are heavy cause of the 3 piece construction.

Here are my lovely BBS RGR's. Prepare to be jealous. I picked all four of these babies up (with tires mounted) last spring for $650!!! Best part is having my bf drool over them and being totally jealous :p

I appreciate that, that's why I said " they are reps" so they are bbs design, I have red through this thread and found a few people which have said " these are my bbs reps" they didn't get shot down for having "fakes" all I was saying are here are my wheels I'm pleased with them I don't expect everyone to go oh dear he hasn't got real bbs let's slate him but again your right this is a BBS thread so my apologies for posting

$650 for a full set? That's one helluva score. Those puppies must either be hot, or the owner was one desperate cat in need of cash.

You don't even want to know what I paid for my LM's. Let's just say that ONE cost more than your entire set.

I have replicas on my Mini Too! But Mines are 17's. Were did you get your 18's?
Hey I totally agree with you. BBS or replicas are not gonna make a difference if much. Maybe be alittle heavier with the replicas and their made differently.

Actually my R-90 Replicas are lighter then the OEM wheels and the offset lets them sit more flush to the fender. I've noticed the Mini even sprints a little quicker compared to the stockers. I bet you couldn't tell unless you came very close to the car and noticed if they were one piece or two piece rims!

People are so materialistic. If it not the real thing then they look at you as your just a fake.
with the money I saved I put a pulley, intake, suspension mods and so forth.
Let me know were you got the 18's Pics please.....:-)

The strength and quality are comprimised as well. Not to mention the fact that the BBS's are real two piece so that barrels could be replaced in the
event of an accident or damage.

You say "materialistic", I say "moral". The replica companies are STEALING from the real companies. BBS does a great deal of research and design before releasing their wheels. They have artists and engineers who spend countless hours designing the best wheel they can. They spend a long time and a load of money to test the wheels to make sure they're up to the quality expected from BBS.

The replica company puts no work in. They steal the design, they do no testing. Instead, they find places to cut corners. They use weaker metals, they use weaker processes for manufacturing. They cut corners when it comes to finishing the wheels. The lower quality and the lack of R&D mean they can charge less for their fake wheels and at the same time they are hurting the image and sales of the real wheel companies.

This is the reason I don't support replicas. They are stealing and REALLY harming the real wheel companies. Companies like BBS, OZ, Volk, etc are the companies that are putting in effort to improve the wheel technology. If we no longer support them and allow thieves to steal their hard work and designs they're gonna hurt. I remember reading an article about replica wheels and the real manufacturer listed the costs and damages caused by replica companies to his own legit wheel business and it was astounding.

I'm not materialistic and would ever put someone down for running less expensive wheels. There are plenty of great, unique, affordable wheels out there that AREN'T fakes and I fully approve of those if they're within your budget. My only problem lies with replicas which are stolen designs and the reason I dislike them isn't because of materialistic reasons...it's all moral. I want to see BBS succeed because they make quality products and I do not approve of companies that conduct business by directly stealing from other companies. I would never support a company that steals their product designs.

Hahaha, well he definitely did not steal them. They were a fellow MINI owner's on our local forum and he was getting rid of his car and posted them for sale and just wanted to get rid of them-I still can't believe that no one else on our forum jumped at that deal.

i agree with that post i would love to buy the real deal but im not going to spend that amount of money on a set of wheels when i could buy almost exact REPs, i dont mind people views on the matter but im on a number of car forums from previous cars i have owned and notice on all of them you will get a newbie or someone with less of a budget lets say and they get ruined within minutes of posting on the site, i see forums as a place people with less knowledge of certain things can learn stuff from others with more experience, its not very good for sites when someone comes along with something they are proud of and get shot down because its not the best of the best etc. Not all people are like that, you gave a perfect reason for your dislikening of them but ALOT of people that demorilise do it to make others feel worse.

I love to know that my Mini is so beautiful & pretty and its even twice as pretty to know that it looks this way due to its more beautiful cost. Plus they've been holding up to #'s of Auto-X events with zero problems.
Whats even better is when I see other Mini owners saying... "I wanted those wheels from the dealership! Those are the BBS wheels right?I would get them but they were like $3-grand so I stuck with the stockers, theie nice but so expensive!"

Then I say! I wish I would've gotten them too! but I got these..! The were only $460 bucks! And they were shipped to my door!
Then I even feel more better to know that I have seen damaged or even bent BBS's R-90 and the cost to get a new one!
Then it even feels more better when I see that these are lighter then the real BBS R-90 wheels ( I weigh them myself)

Man I can keep bragging all day with the positives of having the replicas. I even have replica BBS RE wheels on my STi.

I love BBS's but I can't afford them so........ I get something better! BBS's look alikes! If I had the real ones.... I would want to preserve them so they wont get damaged. My closest friend has the same exact Mini I do with the Real BBS' R-90's and a few winter's ago he bent a wheel! You know how much it cost to fix that thing! Come on BBS's a bent rim!......IF you got the cream then do it! Get the real ones! But......

With the extra money I saved! I brought tons of Auto-X goodies!
Just to name a few (rubbing it in)....:
TSW Springs, M7 Strut tower bar, Alta V2 15% pulley, Black out JCW Aero grill, some beautiful Rotora light weight slotted rotors and pads to match, White line rear sway bar, Black out kit for the front head lights...........I can go all day....
I'm a woman whos never been into name brands.....
I love that I have a poor persons Porsche! My Subie kicks some Ferrari's nuts!

Seems a complete contradiction - you agree about reps being the equivalent of design theft but don't give a crap

Better? There is NOTHING better about reps, for all the reasons already cited by Rally. They're ripoffs, pure and simple.

Do you wear a $15 "Rolex" purchased off the sidewalk in NYC too??

^^^If it was offered to me for $15 bucks! I'll probably talk it down to 5 bucks and buy one for Christmas for you too!

I don't buy watches I buy purses and sexy heels and I bet if we raced I'll win too! (that's with my replicas on)

REPLICAS yea.... boy! !!!!

ok i bet you download music to your Ipod from the internet and do not pay???, if you say no then your are actually the first person i have spoken to that hasnt, it is the same prospect you may love the music and appreciate all the hard work etc that goes into it yet we all know about the amount of money that it costs actual companies that sell the music but hey if you can down load it for free it goes out the window so i cant see me contradicting myself i see myself getting something at alot cheaper price but for an almost exact item, and as i have said i would love to buy REAL BBs wheels BUT they cost too much and i have found a cheaper alternative, i agree with the fact of bbs doing all the hard work etc and losing money but it doesnt keep me up all night thinking about it...ITS A SET OF WHEELS this is why i think its silly people getting shot down because its not the CORRECT way.

BBS rep loving should stay out of this thread. Start your own thread instead of cluttering up this one.

BTW, rep wheels are lame. Cheers to Rally for the reasoned argument why.

If you know NOBODY who doesn't rip off music, then I'd say you need some new friends.

And to attempt to apply this analogy to justify buying ripped-off wheel designs, sorry pal, but that's a massive FAIL. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I have a set of BBS's sitting in my Closet any one want to buy them? 5x114.3's 17x8, offset 53, 17lbs silver and mint condition w/ Falken RT-615's on them. Great for auto-xing but not for the Mini! I wish I could but them on the Mini but its a 4 lug.
