Hey guys heres my problem. I really want the Volk Racing CE28N's Time Attacks (black with red surround, on a chili red/black cooper s) but the only 4 bolt pettern they come in is the 15" size which is small.. I was looking to get atleast 17's or possibly 18's but they only have the 5 bolt for those sizes. Is anyone who has a 5/10 bolt wheels on a 4 bolt hub? or is there anyway I can get around this like a 5 bolt hub and rotors.
I went through the same thing with the Cabrio the wife has. The cheapest, not cheap, solution that I found was to have the holes welded up in the 5 bolt wheels. Then a machine shop machined the wheels and drilled a new 4 bolt pattern.
It was made a small amount less expensive by the fact that both bolt patterns were on 100mm bolt circle, so I could reuse one hole on each wheel.
The mods to the wheels exceeded the cost of the wheels. Only you can decide if it is worth it or not.

Every time this has come up I make the suggestion that custom hubs are your best bet. Strength, fit and finish will make this better than any a rework. So far I don't know anyone who's done it.

....it has been done and it's easy. Just adapters (which of course shouldn't be used on track, but are certainly enough for street driving)

Link shows 4x100 in a 17x7 (10 spoke version). Most likely, you'll have to custom order through your wheel dealer, which could take a month to recieve. Volk will custom drill whatever you want, 17s or 18s.

While adapters 'can' do the trick you fail to mention that doing so requires some seriously thick spacers as well. There has to be enough meat on the spacer to secure the new stud pattern. And be hub centric in design to support the wheel. Depending upon the wheel he chooses this might not be a big deal, but others it means a custom offset and significant bearing loads. I'd also look to what the results are on both ends of the car regardless of how you choose to do it.
Me, I'd rather pay more and do it once in the most compete form. Custom hubs are not going to be cheap- I'd guess perhaps $300ea or so. But in the end they're be no question about durability or fit.
