Why do I have vibration when I "tap" the brakes?

When my OEM pads and rotors were gone on my MCS, I opted for Mintex pads and rotors to replace them. Everything seems to be OK, except that when I "tap" the breaks (not pressing completely, just touching it and letting it go), steering wheel moves about 1cm to the left and right few times. This vibration does not happen if I press the pedal smoothly or hard, just when I tap it...

I took the car to the shop that intalled the brakes. After a test run, he decided to replace the rotors. I dont know if that will help or not, but I wanted to check with the NAM guru to see what might be the problem.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Himm.... Why did that happen? I did pay attention to brake very slowly and with a distance during the first 100 miles after the installation of new pads and rotors. Does this mean that the next set may show the same thing? How to avoid this?
Thanks!!!

Wrapped rotor is usually the first responce to this question. Unfortunatly it could be a big handful of possible problems.
Start with rotating the tires and see if it is the same.

I'm no expert, but I'm with onasled here--the warped rotor is always the first response to the question, but is often not the solution. It might not be the first or best place to look. I'd eliminate wheels (tires and rims), then centering rings, then move to brakes and finally hubs.

cheers,

Loose suspension bolt? Strut, pinch, control arm, tie rod, rack mount? I'd at least do a good nut and bolt inspection.

Put a dial indicator on the rotor & check for run out. I bet you'll find some. First thing to look at is wheel torque. Mistighten wheels can & do warp rotors.

Did a nut and bolt inspection as suggested. Nothing is loose...

Note that I did not have this problem with the OEM rotors and pads, if that helps diagnosing this better.

They seem OK to me, but keep in mind that I have never seen a warped rotor before, so I may not have the "eye" to detect this... I am planning to get the new rotors installed on Wednesday.

What do I do if the problem persists with the new rotors? Since I did not have this problem before the installation of new rotors and pads, can I ask the shop that did the installation to troubleshoot it until it is gone?

If you have the problem with new rotors it is not likely the rotors.
If the rotors solve the problem, but it come back later (in a couple of thousand miles) look for someplace that can turn the rotors on the car. I had a problem with rotors on a Honda until I had them turned on the car and that fixed the problem.

Just got a call from the shop. Apparently the rotors are fine, and the problem is coming from broken lower arm bushings.
